The item capacity would have to increase, but the quadruple thing is unlikely to happen. Honestly I'm amazed they'll even be able to accommodate the server load of all the housing being eligible for large mansion limits.
It's physically impossible to fit a mansion (large) on cottage land (small). This will never happen.
What they could do potentially is give everyone 3 plots for farming, regardless of size, but that's a pipe dream.
The insides are instanced, so that’s what makes it easier to bear. They’re only loaded when in use. Unlike the outside of the wards that have to be permanently loaded. I doubt we’ll see much customization to the exteriors.
You should all be concerned about the housing item limit for this. Watch Square Enix give you the interior size you want, but then keep it limited on items by the plot size, meaning you'll have that large interior with a 200 item limit if it's on a small plot.
I doubt that will happen unless the underlying code for housing is so bad that they can't correct it.
Personally, I'm more concerned about Store Room limits when changing the interior design. Going to be a problem if I want to change my interior design but my storeroom is already at its limit. It's already a problem when relocating a medium or large house because of the max 400 item temporary limit.
That kinda sounds more like a player problem of "I bought too much stuff because I change things frequently." But I'm not going to criticize that because it's what you want to do with your gil. It's like they are trying to give us instanced housing without actually giving us instanced housing.I doubt that will happen unless the underlying code for housing is so bad that they can't correct it.

I hope they address that along with the new limits in the next LL sometime around mid October.I doubt that will happen unless the underlying code for housing is so bad that they can't correct it.

I had thoughts on that - "technically" if you make a small a large - I assume your item budget increases accordingly...thus your item limit also increases. No mention was made of the promised (yes, it was promised for a change) item limit increase. I don't know if it was oversight because the housing information came at the end of the LL and they were a bit rushed to finish up or not mentioned because it will be in a later patch (possibly same time we get the size feature).
However aside from the exterior - what becomes of a large? Will you be able to "upgrade" those? Or is the exterior considered worth the extra gil expediture? who knows.
I still stand by my suspicion that that the size increase inside will be considered "item limit increase"*
*Unless you own a large.
The Live Letter was very specific. It was referring to the interior space and not the item limit.I had thoughts on that - "technically" if you make a small a large - I assume your item budget increases accordingly...thus your item limit also increases.

During the live letter, Yoshi-P talked about a potential change for the upcoming patch cycle (past 7.1), wherein players could upgrade their house interior to that of a larger house (the example he used was a small house with a large house interior.
I'm pretty stoked for this, as it's something I've suggested a few times. Also, I hope it applies to apartments as well, because people who can't get houses deserve nice things too!
Anyone else looking forward to this?
I am looking forward to it big time.
He said "1-2 patches after 7.1"
so that makes the release window anywhere between March and July if patches are every 4 months.
....
What's the point in upgrading your interior if you retain the item limit of the previous interior size....
It's common sense to expect your item limit to be sufficient for the interior size you choose, A small house with a large interior and a 200 item limit?
It would be pointless to upgrade as you'd never fill the space you've paid for.
Also, he's not gonna go into the juicy details on a feature that's still being worked on long before it's ready.
Part 2 wont be mid oct, it will be late Oct.
Part 2 usually happens around 11/12 days before patch release.
If we look at previous Live Letters and presume 7.1 is due on 5th or 12th November we'd be looking at a time window of 25th Oct - 31st October for Part 2.
Regarding Limit increases I'm not expecting much
Probably something like
Apartments and FC Chambers +25
Small + 75
House + 125
Large + 175
Gotta keep in mind ppl with older systems and ps4's.
Housing Items not only use server resources to load, they use end user system resources to be loaded in by their clients when they enter houses (CPU, GPU, RAM)..
