Jesus Christ, this fandom is more obsessed with Wuk Lamat that the MSQ was.Look, I don't downright hate Wuk Lumat, but she certainly didn't win me over, either. I see a lot of folks hoping that after 7.3, they pivot away from her and fast. Still, I also worry, knowing the outspoken history of the VA Sena Bryer and the framing that all criticism is an attack on the VA, that SE, for optics reasons, doubles down on this character and makes her a Scion.
And somehow, I see plausibility in that, with Wuk Lamat's adventurous nature and desire to always help people, she could be a fit within the ranks. Plus, Kona has more leadership qualities than she does, so he could hold down the fort in Tural.
I think I'd quit.
I’m gonna be an MSQ skipper if she joins. The narrative has gone downhill ever since the ending of base game Endwalker. And even Endwalker wasn’t the masterpiece claimed it was.
I highly doubt she'll become a Scion in any sort of capacity but - and I'm going to sound very petty right now - I would love it if she did, if only to make the complainers shut up and leave. I'm not going to defend Wuk Lamat by saying she's the best written character in FFXIV, I too have issues with her, but the hatred and bad-faith criticisms at this point are so overblown it's made this fandom the most irritating it has ever been.
After reading this, I genuinely wish they would just to see the forums cry more over Wuk Lamat.
I don't know if you see the irony of what you just said. Calling other people's opinion as bad-faith overblow criticism while openly admit you're so petty you're willing to cut off the nose just to spite the the face. Have you ever wonder that maybe the reason you seething this way is simply because you're just projecting your own image onto others? Maybe you only able to perceive things as bad faith because you yourself are incapable of staying in good faith yourself?I highly doubt she'll become a Scion in any sort of capacity but - and I'm going to sound very petty right now - I would love it if she did, if only to make the complainers shut up and leave. I do agree that telling people to leave because they complain about a rather poorly-written character is quite petty. The rest of what you've stated seems fair, but telling people to leave because the DT MSQ is several steps back from what they've been paying for thus far is on the extreme side. If people aren't allowed to have or voice their opinions, then conversely you have to agree that no one, not even you, is allowed to praise that selfsame character. As you are tired of folks complaining about a character with a rather bad reputation surrounding it that isn't strictly limited to the game (as the off-game side has been forced into the matter by both fans and the VA alike), many other folks are tired of people supporting it like a die-hard fan that can look at their 'queen' and see that it can do no wrong. Peace is not the absence of conflict. "Strive not with a man who has done you no harm."I highly doubt she'll become a Scion in any sort of capacity but - and I'm going to sound very petty right now - I would love it if she did, if only to make the complainers shut up and leave. Returning to the topic at hand with the rest of the forum, I'm not getting an indicator that Wuk Lamat will be made into a Scion. Making her into a Scion would completely discredit the entirety of making her into a Dawnservant, and her running off on adventures would be a spit in the face to the other siblings she was scripted to step over and crush beneath her feet. "You know, adventures are a lot more fun than ruling an entire nation; you know, the reason I brought you all here and serenaded to you about peace and happiness with no end and the fact I overshadowed your friend Krile and forced you to have nothing but praise to say to me? I think I'll shirk it onto Koana, and he's not even in Tank stance." The fact that she alone said she'd take on the people left behind by the Queen Eternal "Sphene" means she's anchored herself to Tural; if she were to turn around and dump that on Koana, or worse, he suggests she go run off on adventures and leave EVERYTHING to him, it'd make no sense. Why make her Dawnservant if she wasn't going to oversee her lands like one? Why promise a long-dead monarch that she'd look after all of her people and ensure their survival and welfare if she was going to turn around and cross the Salt? If Wuk Lamat was made into a Scion, it'd be the most irresponsible thing she would do and I don't see the writers heading in that direction. Then again, none of us saw all of this coming and the complete lack of TLC for the rest of the cast, but people are allowed to take risks and fumble (and judging from the widespread reception of DT MSQ, the fumble far outweighs the praise, even though some praise can be found but simply not with the MSQ). Just not repeatedly. Another thing to note is that even though the trivia for the character surrounding "Wuk" and the number implication for it, it doesn't mean she'll become a Scion by any means. If that was true, then we'd have to welcome Wuk Evu with open arms just as soon as he's done begging pardon and then dismissing it after he's been pardoned for such a title. Honestly if I had to put a Wuk on the team, it'd be Wuk Evu. He gets around and would make an excellent receptionist.

I do see the irony, hence why I admitted to being petty. Buuuut I'll also admit how hypocritical I came off there and I apologize for being out of line.I don't know if you see the irony of what you just said. You're right, and well said. I'm sorry. Been seeing too much "Woke Lamat" nonsense everywhere lately, it's been wearing me very very thin, especially with it spreading to other facets of gaming, not just FFXIV.I do agree that telling people to leave because they complain about a rather poorly-written character is quite petty. Did I mention anything about hatred? Did I make bad-faith criticisms? Also, I've played 11 years. I've earned my time and right to complain about whatever I want without the "just shut up and leave." I am not going anywhere, sweetie. Deal with it.I highly doubt she'll become a Scion in any sort of capacity but - and I'm going to sound very petty right now - I would love it if she did, if only to make the complainers shut up and leave. "The worst foe lies within the self."
Oh yeah like how Lyse became a Scion... oh wait, that didn't happen.
Lyse was already a Scion and gave it up to fight for Ala Mhigo. She just didn't rejoin once it was liberated. But it could have been a possibility if she felt her homeland didn't need her anymore at that point.
For Wuk it just really doesn't make any sense at all. Like Zelda206 said, it would completely discredit the journey to become the Dawnservant. And also as Zelda206 said and I agree, they may have fumbled by overusing the character and minimizing others who should have been important, but there hasn't been an indication so far that they would make that bad of a narrative choice.
