I'm a bit unhappy about this. Does this mean only 8 people will be permitted per instance, or you must be in a group of 8 to enter the instance and more groups of players will be inside?

If it's just 8 people....meh....

Take what you can get for now, the current server structure as it stands now cannot support that kind of Non-Instanced content. In 2.0, it would seem the server structure will be a lot better and we will have those Non-Instanced Areas in which we can have a lot of people fighting against a certain threat.

I WOULD like to point out that in 2.0 we're getting an open world primal (Odin, in fact)

Yeppers, in which ALOT of people will be tracking him down, in which alot of people will surely be in that area trying to take him down =). So with that example alone, It def. feels like the Non-instanced part of the Future FFXIV is going to be awesome! .

Well, some main storyline quests put you in instances where you can see other people that are in the same quest. Market Wards are also instances and you can see others.

I - doubt - multiple parties will be in the same instance, but i wouldn't say it's impossible.
