There's no multi-party instances that I know of. I felt the exact same way.
Take what you can get for now, the current server structure as it stands now cannot support that kind of Non-Instanced content. In 2.0, it would seem the server structure will be a lot better and we will have those Non-Instanced Areas in which we can have a lot of people fighting against a certain threat.
I WOULD like to point out that in 2.0 we're getting an open world primal (Odin, in fact)Take what you can get for now, the current server structure as it stands now cannot support that kind of Non-Instanced content. Yeppers, in which ALOT of people will be tracking him down, in which alot of people will surely be in that area trying to take him down =). So with that example alone, It def. feels like the Non-instanced part of the Future FFXIV is going to be awesome!.

Well, some main storyline quests put you in instances where you can see other people that are in the same quest. Market Wards are also instances and you can see others.
I - doubt - multiple parties will be in the same instance, but i wouldn't say it's impossible.

Considering the limitations they have on displaying characters and npc's with the current engine the discussion is some what understandable.
I am half and half about the decision my self. On one hand i look forward to a smooth hamlet fight. the other half is sort of going to be missing the feeling of the recent garlian invasions.

What would be nice is a 16 person instance. A full party of DoW/DoM and a full party of DoL/DoH. I don't think that would be unreasonable.Considering the limitations they have on displaying characters and npc's with the current engine the discussion is some what understandable.

As it stands, with only 8 slots to mix the four disciplines into, I still think we're going to end up with a very heavy DoW/DoM build.
6 DoW/DoM and 2 DoL/DoH sounds like it would be the average, in which case the craft and gather guys are getting the shaft.

You guys are forgetting something... It will not matter much what classes make up your party. What would be nice is a 16 person instance. A full party of DoW/DoM and a full party of DoL/DoH. I don't think that would be unreasonable.

Your party will be fighting alongside at least 10 militia NPCs.

Also, looks like you get less result points for equipping job stones and more points for everyone being the same DoW/DoM/DoH/DoL.

Think we can be more than 8 in an instance of the hamlet defence? For epic battles.
If not, I guess we'll be stuck waiting for 2.0 large scale contents. Hamlet Defence still sounds a lot of fun though, don't read me wrong! xD
Yup, 1.22 will be absolutely awesome! Can't wait for tomorrow!! <3
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
