I don't disagree that they're taking too long with updates, which haven't been substantial in a while. But the comment dismissing old content as not worth doing prompted me to comment.

I'm not sure that's what they were going for.
My interpretation was they were specifically trying to point out how barren of content the new "expansion" is. Specifically the lack of actually new content, not old types with a new coat of paint.
That or to demonstrate how unlike a new player catching up on old stuff, a long-term player doesn't have the luxury of relying on old content for entertainment as they've done it already.
Though your interpretation could also be correct, of course.
