I want people to stop attacking or paying ANY attention whatsoever to Sena Bryer not because of some grand moral reason, but because it takes away from meaningful criticism of the actual game. Even Yoshi-P in his statement mentions this, and this was a big worry I had when I saw the initial blowback over Sena's performance (some of which is absolutely transphobia. You can think Sena is a shit person without being transphobic about it, I promise that is possible).

Her performance is so far down on the actual problems I and many others have with Dawntrail. But just as I expected when a bunch of people made it ALL about the English localization and VA work, we now have Yoshi-P saying, "“Firstly, I do understand that when we look at all the feedback that we get, it’s really difficult to discern what is specifically the feedback about the story and then feedback where people are just criticizing the character in relation to values and such – it‘s really difficult.”

I'm so tired of anyone bringing this person up on these forums. Take that garbage back to Xitter where it belongs. I'm here to talk about the GAME and the STORY, something which the international community also has big issues with, even though they played dubbed in another language. None of our issues with the writing and the game will ever get adressed if the English community continues to foam at the mouth every time Sena is mentioned.

Sena isn't the problem with Dawntrail. Recasting Sena will not fix Wuk Lamat. Stop paying attention to her. Her opinions and takes have nothing to do with the game and are not worth our time and attention.

I just read this quote and it really made my stomach sink. I've been playing this game since its beta days, came from FFXI, and I've never been this disappointed and outright frustrated at an expansion. I knew the game journos were going to jump on anti-trans rhetoric b/c of course they will, that's their primary focus these days, ignoring the obvious criticisms regarding the story DESPITE who voice acts Wuk Lamat. I also knew that very over-zealous opinions would play right into this anti-trans reporting's hands with absolutely ignorant and wrong statements.

WUK LAMAT SUCKS IN EVERY LANGUAGE - NOT JUST ENGLISH. THE ENTIRE STORY IS HORRIBLE, NOT FUN, REPETITIVE, STUPID, AND AN ABSOLUTE SHAME COMPARED TO EVERY PIECE OF WRITING THEY'VE DONE BEFORE - INCLUDING 1.X AND 2.0.

For every 1 anti-trans ignorant statement there are literally 100s of comments dissecting and criticizing the writing that has nothing to do with anyone's personal lifestyle decisions.

I've stayed away from this topic hoping and waiting for Yoshi to speak out on the low quality of story telling that has been obviously pointed out in feedback, and to see him not only refuse to address the criticisms but make the absolutely low comment that he can't tell the difference between criticism of quality vs hateful speech is so abysmal to hear as a fan.

Yoshi, no one deserves death threats. No one, and I mean, no one should be so petty and immature to wish death on anyone. If you are, you need to get away from your computer and spend time with loved ones - friends, pets, family, even a local store clerk if you have no one else - go say hi to them. Recognize how precious life is and how absolutely ugly and unacceptable it is to wish for that to be taken from someone just because of a stupid fictional video game.

Yoshi, your fans have stuck by you for over a decade. We provided the support for your incredible vision and standards of XIV to be made possible. We are the ones that continue to do that to this day. Not activists, not journos, not anyone else - us. Your leadership and oversight of this expansion's story was absolutely shameful. The writing team should be ashamed of what they produced and work now to FIX IT. This is not feedback on motivations or ideals or agendas - IT IS CRITICISMS OF THE HORRIBLE WRITING THAT SHOWED ZERO RESPECT TO THE INCREDIBLE STORIES THAT WERE WRITTEN BEFORE HAND. Yoshi, stop trying to avoid the feedback of your fans. If you're going to address 1 problem, you need to address it all.

I am a firm believer that Wuk Lamat needs to be shoved in some back alley closet where we keep Lyse, and Yugiri for cameo cutscenes exclusively and nothing more. The writing of this character is undoubtedly AWFUL. The localization teams efforts, or lack thereof, are not to be celebrated. Does that mean they deserve "Death threats"? No. But at the same time, Stop making yourself a victim. Did nobody learn how to deal with bullies in school? Clap back at them with law enforcement, blocks, whatever it is you need to do to remove them from your presence.

Now I will flat out say, that yes. It does matter what developers do outside of game development. Did we forget the WoW exodus during mid Shadowbringers, that literally occured because of the poor, unproffessional, and disgusting behaviour of the staff, devs, and executives? Many of us have our reasons for leaving, and I wager the actual content of the game at the time while it was a contributing factor, wasn't the final nail in the coffin for most people. Is that happening on the same scale in FFXIV right now? No. But allowing it to take root now can only have negative long term consequences. Which Yoshi P doesn't seem to really care about at this point, seeing as he's developed a habit of ignoring feedback from his community for years now.

Sena is an awful person. Their Twitter posts are disgusting, full of racism, sexism, and sometimes violent remarks. Why defend that behaviour? Would you defend someone burning pride flags, promoting offensive right wing beliefs or making racist comments towards minorities if they were in the same position? I don't think you would. There is no defending this behaviour. Political leanings don't matter, unproffessional behaviour does. I'm very annoyed that Yoshi P has done nothing but call this an attack based on peoples "Values", and completely avoids the majority of peoples problems towards Sena (Hint, its not because of whats in their pants.) Is it truly so hard if you have such a public job to keep your hot takes to yourselves (or your friends), or just straight up stop posting to Twitter period?

I doubt Yoship gives a damn about whatever Twitter squabbles are going on, the community on twt is a huge dumpster fire as is, clearly there's more to the situation if he has to make a public announcement on it like this. Not to mention, he made it clear in the exact sentence he (indirectly) referenced Sena, he states that certain members of the localization team are also facing harassing. Sure but acting like the actor is a saint does not help either. Like i said both parties are wrong sena just as wrong as the community. So please don't act like the Va is victim when the egg the drama on. I agree death threats are childish but calling ppl racist for not liking smile does not paint the picture of a saint. Sena has said their fair share, ppl are allowed to be critical. If you don't like tough its called free will and critisim not everyone gonna like the same thing you do....again both parties are in the wrong. Cut it out with the death threats its not funny its damn childish.

Everyone can't just claim they're being harassed as an escape to criticism. They have the tools to deal with it, and they're either choosing not to utilize them, or they're farming the harassment for clout and attention. It's not like we've had "block" and "report" or even a thing called law enforcement for decades at this point.

If they're *truly* being harassed, and not just avoiding responsibility for Dawntrails weak points, sucks, but your dealing with the public, and the public isn't always rational, especially when you have a fanbase that consists of terminally online people who don't touch grass.

I think that was just a case of people not reading her tweet correctly and then just playing Telephone with it...
