I really don’t think the “WOL is too strong to make stakes meaningful” argument holds any water

The WOL has very defined weaknesses and they aren’t invincible

-at the end of the day they are human, they have great combat abilities but they really aren’t “transcendent”
-their friends can be exploited against them or have them attack the WOL through people they know
-they are at risk from group hostility such as a aggressive foreign nation
-they are rather weak at politics and the “game” as many high fantasy settings call it
-they aren’t immune to stealth attacks

The game just does really poor job of actually attempting to use these weaknesses against the WOL (the garlemald sequence in EW and the bloody banquet in ARR are the notable exceptions) with any time they need the WOL present but can’t have them just resolve the situation with their power they resort to cutscene paralysis, instead every enemy uses the braindead “attack from the front” strategy which forces them to scale the enemy to a power that actually rivals the WOL’s direct combat prowess which is their greatest strength

We don’t need multiverse “modern ancients” or “evil WOL from another timeline” we just need them to actually engage with the WOL’s weaknesses in a way that is meaningful and believable. It’s hilarious they actually parodied every villains suicidal desire to fight the WOL head on with the asura Hildebrand story THEN THEY PROCEEDED TO DO IT UNIRONICALLY WITH SPHENE ANYWAY

A charismatic and brilliant military leader is far more difficult to defeat for the WoL that one single entity with universe ending power at the end of the day (everything Zoraal Ja isn't).

Because the WoL cannot just nuke a country or an army with dynamis, that's not how it works neither in term of power or morality.

Technically they already do, as each Warrior of Light exists in a different universe - same Etheirys, same events, but a different Warrior of Light each time

How long til these outdated since the day, they've been created threads will get locked.

Everyone has made their positions and hardlocked.

let's move onto better and more recent things.

Like figuring out if the key only responds to certain ppl, or if it's anyone's toy. (With Azem Admin) Seeing the latest comments by YP themselves, and the words shared before we got denser, re-uttered by a Engram/Tiara.

You forgot "prone to random flashbacks" that can, and do, happen mid-combat.

I agree. The raid series proves that isn't true. It's just a tourney arc where we free seven souls a pop and most people are enjoying it. An arc doesn't have to be about stopping the world from ending to be enjoyable. It just has to be something people care about. Installing an unfit ruler as leader of a foreign nation wasn't something a lot of people cared to do. I'd argue most were adverse to doing it.

I would have rather spent a zone stalking Estinien in an attempt to solve the mystery of where he got that sabotender he ate from, than learn about the farming practices of yet another reskinned beast tribe.

When we got to scifi land and the first thing they showed us were their farming practices I thought I was being trolled. Ya'll got things on your head sucking out your memories and bringing you back from the dead and you want to show me your squash?

Exactly. Our specialty is killing primals and the final antagonist is robo-primal. *forehead slap*
