Wow, Wuk Lamat is really single-handedly ruining the DT story...

Which isn't to say there's anything wrong with the power of love or friendship as a plot device. The Endsinger trial used it to great effect. It made sense there.

I'm also not surprised at the primal commentary I've seen about Wuk Lamat because I've seen similar about the Warrior of Light and our almost supernatural ability to get people to get along.

The problem with both is when they're not used to good effect and instead magically solve everything just by using them. Which is just a big problem with Wuk Lamat. There's a lot about her that is fine in moderation, but it's the excess that makes it all border on the ridiculous.

I'd say the differences between the Warrior of Light and Wuk Lamat, is we're not complete dumbasses, we've been helping different cities, races, cultures, you name it, since we set foot in Eorzea, and we've quite literally built up a reputation that is greater than anyone else on the Star by the time we reach DT. And unlike Wuk Lamat, we have failed quite a few times. We have lost every single expansion, people we cared about. We've also been a pillar of strength to everyone, including the Scions. The one being on this Star that could always be relied upon to fight for others.

In short, we've earned the respect of others, that allows democracy a chance to happen. And we have had the strength to back it up in many instances.

Speaking of character development regression - the WoL is back to rejecting drinks again after we literally got over that trauma back in Shadowbringers!!!!

Imma be real with you; if that ever happened to me irl (the poisoning thing in Heavensward) I would never take a drink again from anyone.

They won't talk about Wuk Lamat. The only moment they could talk about it it's when they will have something else to sell to counterbalance it : the next expansion.

Them not talking about Wuk Lamat AT ALL will actually be the good sign. Already is. Check the recent interviews, Yoshi P mentions basically all the characters except for her. Wuk Evu, Bakool, Krile, Erenville, Honey B, Sphene, Otis, etc. I am talking about 2 recently released interviews, one about Dawntrail's characters and the other about multiverses. Both have mentions of many Dawntrail characters, both lack mentions of Wuk Lamat completely.

When the team likes a character (or thinks players like a character), they fanboy over them together with the community, they promote them further, meme about them, whatever. The silence speaks for itself. Try to remember the last time they suddenly went silent about a character central to an expansion.

I do believe they will act on the feedback but they will never address it outside of an incredibly safe corporate PR response of "we're always looking for feedback to improve the game" or some things along that line.

You cannot convince me Wuk Evu was not waiting for those birds to drop dead so he could eat them. Only explanation.

Sad part is, just some short scene with him alone talking to himself with "He the old man was right, his kids did figure this out... cant believe the birds could keep their act though..." and all would be fine.

The whisdom head made this plan 3 years ago? more then enough for some trials, yet most stuff feels like "ehh idk, just do some chores and we'll see..." xD

So for the sake of not repeating what's already been said, as all complaints about Wuk Lamat I have have been said elsewhere and far better. something has been bugging me about Turial and Dawntrail for a and I've only recently put my finger on it...

I generally expected more world building and some connection to the rest of the world, but you are right the whole area lives in a vaccum even more than alexandria ...

From a writing angle, it's all backwards.

When other regions were created, the region came first- if even in concept- and that informed the characters. With Wuk, they created her first and then tried to build tje world around her.

That part's classical stage writing. What makes it sting though is in the pursuit of her having a positive, upbeat expac... they erased all teeth the story could have, made everyone around Wuk morons, and gave her wins and screen time where nothing was done.

I'm ambivalent on Stormblood, by the by. It was alright. Not amazing, not terrible either. It was clumsy, but there was an earnestness to a lot of it.

I don't know what in Jibbers Crabst name happened here.
