[Feedback] Data Center Travel Changes

You can't do Island Sanctuary on a different data center, along with many other parts of gameplay. Its not a communication issue, its a gameplay issue. If friends come to see you from a other DC; then their gameplay is stripped as well. A lot of players in my space don't just log into the game to sit around and talk, and maybe this is why its confusing some people in here as to why I am not against the restrictions. DC travel almost felt like it was forcing all of the raiders to be friends with raiders on Aether, and so on. I was in a community where everyone did all sorts of different things. Gathering, crafting, ultimate raiding, house decorators, roleplaying, and whatever else you can think of. It was nice being in a space where everyone can do talk and play the game their own way. However, DC travel separated us from that social circle.

It might be confusing, but a lot of friendships were just formed from people visiting the FC house and watching people decorate, craft, etc while they wait for their PFs to fill. People still talked to each other in discord when travel was implemented, and we try to meet up a lot, but it felt extremely hollow and tedious. No one could see each other in the game to do fun little things to fill for their wait times without sacrificing some of their enjoyment. It was the "hanging out" part that got thrashed. FC buffs were becoming useless, because people started to not visit the house anymore because they just had to be on Aether or somewhere else. The traveling was tedious and they didn't want to keep dealing with it. Its hard to explain it, but Endwalker has lead people in these groups to become more distant, and some ended up quitting.

I really don't want the "you guys have discord, so you guys are fine" pinned against me, because I could say that you all can RP on discord too and be fine without going to a venue. I don't want your enjoyable experiences to be taken away from any of you either, but it really did hurt my social circle a lot, and I wish there was a better solution to this problem. I just don't want people like myself and my friends to be dismissed as "anti-social no lifes" because we were upset that we had to separate ourselves from our community to do what we enjoyed in the game, and got completely worn down from it.

Sorry, I am not very good at explaining this stuff, and I am not attacking anyone in here. But I just feel like my situation along with many other players are being overlooked by a drastic measure in this thread.

Your post is exactly right. DC travel had far reaching negative effects into every corner of the game, not just PF being dead. One major one was FCs feeling dead because half the members had to be on Aether to get anything done. I've noticed things feeling much more active and alive after the restrictions were put in place just as you described.

Not surprising that all the same people crying about the restrictions immediately turn around and tell anyone who was negatively impacted by DC travel to "just deal with it."

I've been moreso laughing at the volume of people that fall under:

Square Enix: "Don't flood Aether. Don't flood Balmung, Bryn, Coeurl, or Diabolos. Don't flood Behemoth, Excalibur, Levi, or Ultros. Thank you for your understanding."

*players that didn't understand a single word* : "This change is horrible. I can't flood the worlds you just listed for raiding or rp."

Me: "Did you miss where Square Enix didn't list exceptions?"

My friends' venues are where they are. It's not like SE allows you to move them. You are clearly not part of any social scene. Your posts show that clearly.

That's funny considering how many Aether venues have bought housing on Golem, Rafflesia, Kraken, and Cuchu I see everyday in PF. You are clearly just a part of the broke social scenes.

I'm sorry, but Island Sanctuary takes what... 15 minutes/week? That is not... a problem, unless you can't be apart from your friends for 15 minutes/week.

Island Sanctuary is just an example I use to just explain that there is a lot of gameplay restrictions. This is one of many.

I have friends both on my own DC and Aether, and ... it hasn't been an issue at all to play with either or both. Until the current dumpster fire, that is.

Your situation was not affected negatively by DC travel, but it did hurt a lot of other people for various reasons, and that is what my posts were trying to explain. The system was flawed from the beginning, and changes do need to be made. Its why you are struggling right now with the current restrictions. I do hope things get better for you as well. I am sorry if I came across as combative or anything like that, but it does hurt me a lot when I do get dismissed as someone who is being anti-social or even selfish. My experience really bummed me out. I can't control what people do, and I had to just watch it all sort of crumble away for an whole expansion. (That is almost 3 years.)

How many more times do I have to explain how I was - and still am - affected negatively? If the main venue I frequent is on Aether, and that's run by friends, then yes... this is hurting me if I can't get there at all. Please, explain to me again how that is not hurting me.
