Do they see it as PR damage? I feel like they'll just look at her and go YASSS SLAY QUEENBecause she's dragging the impression of Wuk Lamat, Square Enix, and the Final Fantasy franchise down along with her simply by association with them. When people think of Dawn Trail or now the song "Smile", her outlandish and blanketed vitriolic remark will be one of those thoughts that will come up, even just in the back of the head, thanks to her. Her prior statements with how she feels about her peers and her loathing also travel with her.
She's a PR and brand risk, and if they don't get her to clam up, she'll keep alienating people away by association. Taking a 2~3 week onslaught of run-of-the-mill slander for letting her go would be better than the longer lasting damage she's going to cause.
when the figures comes in and they see how many westerners has unsubscribed they might suddenly wake-up and see the PR disaster this VA is and hopefully her friend Kate gets pulled in as wells cause my goodness Se needs a PR team just to keep the VA in check.
Smile does not work for me simply because it invokes feelings of happiness (for me it fit during the dawn servant selection celebration) but why the heck do i need a happy upbeat song playing after killing an entire society; committing regicide and basically placing a whole nation in mourning (and erenville narrates all of this to an upbeat song)
the song is on par for me to playing LaHee during the walk of Ultima Thule tone deaf and entirely unneeded

Terrible song, Terrible VA. Terrible take, Terrible troll. Terrible bait.
I don't particularly like the song and if that opinion makes me a bad person then so be it. I likely do hate whatever minority chooses to take offense at my opinion, I'm a misanthrope and hate everyone. Equally.
I used to sing gospel in a choir before the pandemic shut that down and Smile ain't it boss, not by a mile.
Other than not liking the song I didn't really take issue with its use in the train scene though, the whole thing felt like discount A-Team in a Disneyfied expansion in the first place and the song kind of fit that vibe.
I’m not missing the point. The topic is titled 'The hatred that Smile gets is highly problematic.' I commented that I agree the hate for Smile is overblown. The discussion in regards to the topic is about Sena's Tweet. I also commented that Sena is part of the problem. No point was missed. It sounds like we're on the same page so I'm not sure how you felt I was missing the point. Both halves of my post addressed the thread topic and Sena's role in what she said.I think you're missing the point. The hate comes from that person labeling people who dislike the song as racists. That's what we hate, being labeled a racist, because of some tweet from a person...Damn, never knew how hard it was to stay polite when you're actually want to lash out...
99.99% chance probably a Titanman alt

Oh hey I can post again I think (just hit the post limit lol)
I find it bizzare she's willing to die on this hill (and people who are trying to defend it) because even if it was decent... People have different opinions? I really like Seeking Purpose because it sounds like something from a DOOM game, but I don't expect everyone to like it.
Also she's following the trick that trolls like to do; after they say something and get angry messages about it, double down and say "if you think I meant you you have a problem". Like ?????

Smile gets hate because it sounds like the kind of music that would play in government TV advert.
Or an ad for some shitty drug on CNN or Fox.
SMILE may cause nausea, fever, headaches, blurred vision, stomach discomfort, loosening of the bowels, diarrhea, heart palpitations, heart attacks or in some instances, death. Consult your doctor before using SMILE.

This made me laugh a bit from a XIV subreddit - "Yes, you read the title correctly: Any discussion about Sena Bryer is now banned..."
