Jokes on you, I have seen a lot of male Roegadyn who are very much into only wearing a panty like that :'D
RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
The Forgerise set for level 100 Blacksmith is where I draw the line on this
Glamour restrictions must go. Remove the glamour dresser, turn it into a log for every piece of gear in the game. Glamour plates are built from the glamour log. While we're at it, do the portraits really need our glamour to reflect exactly what is saved too? Glamour just seems needlessly convoluted on the back-end, but I can't imagine increasing the glamour dresser restriction each expansion is a sustainable solution...
Yeah, Content Plates should really only represent our ideal if we want it too.The Forgerise set for level 100 Blacksmith is where I draw the line on this

While Our actual Gear and look shouldn't have to match the plate.
(Even in PVP, does it not matching matter. They'll focus on the color or icon next to our names. the special effects are giveaways to our role.)
In PVE, there's even less confusion, when mixing glamour throughout the game.
As the roles/jobs are Blatant, and no one gains or losses anything.
I wish, they'd at least give us a more concrete answer. like how they told us RegionWide DF/PF could take around 3 years.
(Unless, they want to find a way, without telling us. As it would be a huge thing.)
Yet all this hinges on the idea that they're actually working it, which there really is no clue if it exists on the menu/radar.

Great & really concise post. Over time, it just gets clearer that role restrictions for glamour are increasingly questionable. Though, in my opinion, the only gear that should be role restricted is combat job artifact armour.
Aside from the role restrictions, I really, really wish that they would remove gender restrictions on all gear. I was very disappointed with the male variants of the dancer gear for both Endwalker & Dawntrail, I'm still waiting for the Alma's attire dress to become wearable on male characters after a few years of them starting to remove gender-restrictions on gear (at a snail's pace, mind you), & I generally dislike that gender variants make gear so different that you can't tell that they're the same set (ie. Shisui of the violet tides sets & the Copied Factory Yorha Type-51 sets) & that female variants tend to be more revealing & less practical-looking than male variants (ie. all the pants that are shorts on female models or armour that is egregiously revealing like the level 50 Dragoon artifact armour that exposes female characters' torsos from belly-button to under-boob).
Yoshi-P's reasoning for not unrestricting glamour is already shoddy when compared to the heavily-armoured cast/heal/aim/scout gear, lightly-armoured tank/maim/strike gear, & joke & non-armour gear out there, but it is especially clear when looking to female model variants of gear.
More than anything, I'm hoping that they'll take the time to remove gender restrictions & add a button to toggle between these male/female gear variations regardless of your character's model soon.
I have posted in here a few times to add my support. I do feel racial gear should maybe stay, but the underwear like Hempen should be shared and used by all. I would love to have more options and it is amazing with the dye system now how players can get creative with the colours and it adds some much needed change.
I've seen people dying on the hill that the hempen sets should be 'special racial sets'.I have posted in here a few times to add my support. That is fine in theory, until you look exactly what those glams are: generic underwear. There's absolutely nothing cultural about them, except maybe the male Au Ra one. Heck, even Viera and Hrothgar get to use the midlander ones because they didn't bother.
I feel that simply 'unlocking' the sets could be convoluted, but I suppose a good take on it would be release a "prestige" version of them with updated textures, and free for all. Gender included!

There was an old thread here where we had requested them to be unlocked and were told that it was planned to happen. It was asked during a Q&A session before COVID during early Shadowbringers and Yoshida said they were in the process of making it happen. So this isn't really a hill for people to die on, when we have been told multiple times they were already working on it. Its just that the pandemic set a lot of their plans and promises back, some of which— like increased furniture limits and a toggle to allow the removal of pillars and windows in personal housing were promised around the same time— are already promised for the 7.X series.
Working on it like they're working on giving Viera and Hrothgars exclusive hairstyles to make up for lack of hats - Wait, we have multiple NPCs wearing Viera hairstyles. But maybe working on it like they're working on hats for those races - yeah no.There was an old thread here where we had requested them to be unlocked and were told that it was planned to happen. Unfortunately, unless they can give us concrete evidence of progress being made, I've stopped believing in "Working on it"
To be honest. Why not unlocking even artifact gear? I know "job fantasy" and stuff... But a lot of crafter's artifact sets would make great casual attire and... I would love to be holy monk in lvl 50 artifact PLD gear and just smash things in heavy armour for the light.
But I would be pleased enough with only non-artifact gear.
Oooh oooh and also. GLAMOUR LOG FOR CHRIST SAKE PLEASE.
