Thing about final fantasy, they go for a more realistic approach. That's why I like them.

Anyways if these crafted items are meldable then im guessing they will be junk. Se would be to scared of them being op and nerf the base damage stat. Id rather them be blue/rare crafted not meldable then just be more crafted junk.

So these weapons are only for classes then? Probably trying to separate the classes from jobs even more and trying to make them more useful.

And as Dawii and a few others have pointed out, the English terminology does seem to point to the fact that these "Grand Company Equipment" might really be *Class*-Exlusive instead of Job-Exclusive (which would help to make Classes something appealing for certain players / situations). And they're Crafted, by Disciples of the Hand, so these might be the next "tier" of Crafted Weapons to make them more competitive with Primal Weapons?
And in Yoshida-san's Letter from Producer XXVI, he mentions both Job-Exclusive Weapons *and* Class-Exclusive Recipes... so I think there is a distinction (and that there really will be Class-Exclusive Equipment (i.e., not just a translation error)):Patch 1.22 will see the addition of new weapons and armor available for crafting by Disciples of the Hand...
* New weapon recipes planned for patch 1.22 are for gladiator, pugilist, marauder, and lancer classes only. Weapons for other classes are planned for release sometime after patch 1.22a.
