Oh "wahh wahh boo hoo, it's not so hard as to be inaccessible to THE PLEBS"
Oh "wahh wahh boo hoo, it's not so hard as to be inaccessible to THE PLEBS"
Please be satireMaybe after 6 years of grooming, it's about time for the devs to jump from "normal content should be accessible to everyone" to "Savage content should be cleared by literally anyone."
You don't know half of your kits? It's okay. Savage content shouldn't gate keep you.
You don't meld your gear and prepare best food buffs and potions? It's okay. Those items are for pathetic elitist anyway.
Stop whinning. Go play Ultimate.
You don't need to do any of that though. i got my gear pentamelded by you know, playing the game. Bought all my gear, and my materia with clusters/gil. Gil is pointless other than gear, and you get tons of it just doing hunts/roulettes/fates.So which of these is correct? Because, in my ten years of playing, I have never seen pentamelded gear be the expectation for PF until now. And you don't just "craft your gear", you need to first level and pentameld your crafters, which is far more expensive than combat classes. It takes hundreds of hours of grinding for scrips or millions of gil. Or you just need to have tens of millions of gil on hand to buy a pentamelded set. That isn't normal. I know that Dawntrial is supposed to be the "real gamer's expansion", and "you've been playing for 100 levels, you should be perfect by now", but the floor has gotten way too high for the game to be sustainable. Not in terms of fight difficulty, but all the over-complicated menu spam that you need just to get gear and items. FFXIV isn't for the ordinary gamer anymore, it's a legacy title for legacy players.
Also, for the OP: of course the fights are easy when everyone's expected to have pentamelds and memorize Lord Hector's braindead JP billibilli Mario Kart Playstation colors strat. Most raiders probably use "helpers" anyway. Not to mention crafters who are making the gear. What's next, have the fights take cheats into account like WoW?
You don't *need* pentamelded gear to raid but you should need it for week 1 clears, yes, otherwise whats the point of crafters?
There needs to be an upper limit of difficult content because there WILL be people that think all the content is easy and if the devs cater to these people, then only like 1% of the game's community will even remotely be having fun, and then the game will die.
This happens with basically every MMO with a raid scene. People will cry because things aren't hard enough.
The difficulty is fine, and is a welcome change from recent savage content.
Difficulty is what you make it, if you want a challenge I don't see you going in without potions/raid food, no melds, minimum ilvl gear, etc.
The average DF party still struggles on NORMAL honey b lovely and if you see this and don't understand that "hardcore raiders" are in the minority then I dunno what to tell you.
I cleared the entire savage tier in 2 days and I think it is the most fun I have ever had in a tier since EDEN'S PROMISE. I don't think it is any more easier or harder than the 1st tier of Endwalker, it just doesn't have a puzzle.
I admit the fights are more leinient but I think thats ok because the fight is still engaging - its not like your just repeating the step by steps of anabasieos with no real thought or change ups; I think considering that the DPS checks being a bit lower is nice to make some close calls for groups with folks that haven't streamlined their rotation yet - I don't feel everyone in a savage raid should require a exceptional rotation to clear the content...like middle of the road DPS.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Savage difficulty supposed to "reset" to a baseline each expansion and then get progressively harder through the patches and new tiers? So naturally this tier is going to feel a bit easier after doing P9-12S, and then the difficulty will increase as the raid series goes on.

Fights are fun. I honestly don't mind the lower DPS check and infinitely prefer interesting and dynamic mechanics with good pacing like we've gotten over fights with tight DPS checks. There's a reason why TOP was absolutely miserable and why I dropped it when it first released. M4 definitely was undertuned in it's DPS check in my eyes, but I don't see how that is an actual problem. The mechanics are still difficult enough to me, the fights are fun.
There were plenty of new styles of presenting and resolving mechanics, but human brains are simply good at relating one thing to another. It's how I see the M3 player fuses as spells in waiting with different timers. Probably the most fun tier I've done so far and I hope this type of feedback doesn't lead to another abyssos situation.
idk, the abyysos into top into anabaesos killed a lot of ppl, and a lot of former friends quiting or going into retirment casual mode over it.
the first tier is always easier than the later ones anyways, more expectation of peoples first savage.
