It's... not something I like to talk about. I am a small 5'5" man and I can tell you i was perceived as "weak" for a long time because it happened. I've moved past it for the most part, but certain things do make me highly uncomfortable because of it. I do everything I can to make sure I don't treat anyone unfairly because of what happened to me.

I'm sorry for what happened to you. No one should be harassed like that. When it's done by a biological male it elicits a special kind of fear that everyone who has experienced it first hand will recognize. Oftentimes our lizard brain can alert us of a very real danger before any harm has taken place, and ignoring it can have dire consequences. I also find it absolutely wild that you'd say as a direct response to someone coming out about harassment, and I quote "now you know what women have to face everyday with some straight men." Damn, dude. Where's the empathy I've heard so much about? It only exists when it's convenient to your argument.

I'm not going to get much farther into it, but suffice to say that's the big problem i've been trying to point out in this and other threads. Fear. I've had several times in my life where the color of my skin, my sexuality, and my sex/gender as a "CiS Straight White Male" has kept me from speaking out. Not from bigotry or hatred, but from genuine fear. Everyday I have to be so careful, because all it takes is one, one "label" tossed on me... and everyone hates me. Does it happen often? No, not at all. It's rare, but it has happened to me. I freely admit I am a small, timid, and shy man. I have never been so afraid as I am today. God, I know this sounds like a stupid sob story but it's... it's kind of nice to just finally say it. I don't know what to do anymore, I feel like my life from here on out is going to be lived in fear.

I was in a blind panic during the whole thing. Luckily my boss was woman in her 40's who knew exactly what to do. I was only 22, and had no idea. My biggest concern was losing my job if he decided to start telling people I was a bigot or homophobic. Would the company have sided with me? I didn't know. All I knew is I needed that job. I was barely in my 20's it was the first job I had been able to get in a year. My father and I desperately needed me to be working as he no longer could. I know this sounds like some BS made up sob story, but my life has been... rough.
