Yup people wanted jobs to play differently and this is one way of making that happen. DRK reminds me of a drain tank who creates sustain by leaching life from its target.
The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.
Lol ... all of you know Gunbreaker is still easily the highest DPS tank right? Also they buffed all paladin damage too? This change was legit just to move DK back into either basically on par with the other tanks (not Gunbreaker) or the clear #2 (cause Gunbreaker is still #1). They still did not fix the biggest problem... the loss of MP regen.
I dropped drk after SHB, but this sounds fun.... like doing lots of damage and life leaching it to sustain. I don;t want an overly complex rotation with bloated CDs.... just a fun streamlined job with an identity.Lol ... all of you know Gunbreaker is still easily the highest DPS tank right? Pld is cool
War is fun
haven't played GNB
..but DRK is my favorite aesthetic... wish it felt as well designed as PICT.
I am also surprised by this thread.Lol ... all of you know Gunbreaker is still easily the highest DPS tank right? Also they buffed all paladin damage too? We already have some savage stats. DRK is still lowest dps tank M2-M4S and least played.
The buffs were nowhere close enough.
Lowest in rDPS (i.e. not accounting for damage from others' raid buffs), but second highest in aDPS - DRK especially benefits raid buff heavy comps, while others will do better in one with fewer buffs, and that's kind of been the DRK's thing since the ShB rework. And the difference between top and bottom is ~200 DPS rn. Although things are likely to keep shifting as more data comes in, so we will see if this holds up in like two weeks.
You're right that DRK is the least played tank currently and we do really need gameplay adjustments, but numerically things are fine.
Its all about perception. DRK being at the bottom on DPS with lowest sustain and various other issues reinforces the idea that its the worst tank job.
This is why nobody plays BLM either - it also looks bad pick compared to alternatives and players have abandoned it while MCH still has some fans.
Streamlined?
Absolutely!
Identity?
except a few potency upgrade, this class has never seen the light of class identity since a few years, the only identity remaining is not in gameplay but in animations.
(and even then, there are some of those that feel really out of place ^^')
The story was subpar at best with too much emphasis on a character that people either like or hate, job changes have been terrible and they just butchered a shiny new job (VPR). The only content that seems passable is the fight design but even then the DPS checks feel unbalanced (they're far too easy). It's extremely safe to say that it's a very mid expansion.
DRK is still bottom of the Tanks rDPS wise so, they did not do much even if this is an skewed perception due to the fact that no one is playing this half baked job right now. There is still a big gap between the rest and it, be it sustain, damage or mitigation when it is not reliant on Magic mit, specially after the massive PLD buffs making it the best prog tank, hoping that instead of just, potency up, they think about the direction they want to job to go towards, and maybe, just give us more mana from BW and 1 extra OGCD, that would be amazing.
