I'm sorry, but he really doesn't look the same! Here's a GIF; you can clearly see the differences in lip shape, nose shape, and even changes to the eyes. The lips are the biggest thing, I think.

They really hate lips with this graphics update. The biggest downer for me has been how destroyed lips have been. Half my characters, not even with the fullest lip options, have fish lips. So many faces look like they got horrible lip fillers and lost definition to lip shapes and mouth corners. The lighting makes it look like their holding their breath with their cheeks out. I hate it and hope they fix it.

true, he looks slightly prettier now and his eyes don't have a lifeless stare into the void anymore.
Also better nose and chin proportions.

It's not about what YOU think, it's about changing a character's features for no reason.
He looks like a different person. Unless they tell me Thancred had plastic surgery between patches, this shouldn't happen.

doesn't look like a different person tbh. overall it's barely noticeable, and doesn't look any worse. Id say it's even much better, than the fish glass eyed look from before.

there's people I know IRL that change more, after a few months, in regards to facial structure, after losing and gaining weight/muscle mass.

That's crazy, do they get more philtrums they never had and nose/lip jobs from gaining weight too?

His lip and nose shape are very different. It's not because you don't notice it as carefully as other people that it's not there. You're also focusing way too much on how the eyes are reflecting light - which changed for all characters, but appear to be ignoring his actual facial features. Try this: cover his eyes with your hands, and focus on the lip shape on the example pictures above. It's noticeably different. Again, your personal opinion on looking "better or worse" doesn't matter. It's making him look different than what he used to be for no reason, and less unique (now you actually can recreate him with the character creator, while before it wasn't possible).

The combination of the larger iris, smaller pupil, more subdued light reflection, and darker sclera make his eyes look more dead than before. His face as a whole looks disjointed because they went for more realism in some areas while keeping the more stylized look in others.
