I like the fact that NIN has this unique thing—a melee that turret-casts spells once every two minutes—that you need to work around. I get that you don't like dropping TCJ, but the solution to that doesn't have to be removing all limitations. To borrow a quote from Mass Effect 2:

Being locked into place with TCJ is a relic dating back to Heavensward. A relic in need of change, like how they removed the need to press the Ninjutsu button between each mudra. I would love to have more mobility.

ya but ninja already has the best mobility > 10%+ movement speed , teleport that recharges after any 2 part mudra and gap closers . I think it's a fair tradeoff just like blm is very mobile during burst but not so much in between

I agree with the rest of your point, but this argument always confuses me. Yes, Ninja has some ranged abilities, but they're almost all used exclusively in the burst window. It's not like you can just dump them in if you're losing melee uptime.

I would love to have more mobility when talking about ninja is crazy.

Yes you can. You literally can use them if you're losing melee uptime, and you should. You have free uses of Ninjutsu in between burst, and you have a 20-second window of a free Suiton cast leading up to burst.

As for the primary topic of the post, TJC locking you in place is good, actually. It's unique, it's cool, and it's interesting to plan around.

Job friction makes overcoming that friction feel even more satisfying. With all due respect, to everyone complaining about this, this is a skill issue. It's okay to fail. Think about why you failed and do better next time.

No. If you used both Ninjutsu charges in your burst window (as you always should), you need 40 seconds for them both to recharge. In the 60 seconds between burst windows, that gives you ONE "free" use of Ninjutsu, but it should only be used for Suiton, just so Trick is ready as soon as it refreshes.

Using your Ninjutsu any other time outside of the burst window is a DPS loss, period.

Furthermore, the "friction" argument is irrelevant to the fact that TCJ is overly-punishing on an already-complex Job. Losing a huge chunk of your burst damage as one of the premiere burst-damage classes simply because you accidentally tapped a movement key, or because you are forced to move by a mechanic is a relic of old game design.

If it's a "skill issue" as you allege, then why is Ninja the worst-performing melee DPS in extremes right now?
