My 2nd main FFXIV OC now looks like he got stung by a bee. The old lip shape was fine, why change it? Same with the jaw. What happened?? Sorry I don't have exact comparison pics, but I think the difference is glaring enough for anyone to notice. I put spoiler bars since the pics are quite large u__u

After the graphical update my beard is clipping through my hat lol. This was not the case in EW.

That's mine, I'm honestly devastated and the complete lack of acknowledgement so far from SE makes me nervous about the possibility of anything being done to fix it. The only reason I haven't already unsubscribed is bc of my rp fc, and I've just put a veil over her face for the time being- I tried to give ffxiv a break, hoping that I'd come back and it would look better with fresh eyes, but it just doesn't. I miss my character and I feel like SE got their money from us and now they don't care whether we stay or go. I'd expect it from most big companies, but SE always claimed to have the actual players in mind.

I feel the same way, I'm only still in the game because of my fc, otherwise I would have cancelled my subscription already. Nevertheless, I'm thinking about whether it would be worth taking a break from ff for a while so I can get used to the new face.

Until then, my WoL is wearing a face mask so I don't have to look at her ruined face. At least the mask matches the ninja.

It's really wild what they've done to so many of our lip shapes, and this face is definitely one of the most egregious examples.

In general, this face looks much softer and rounder than it used to, because they removed the painted contour of the cheekbones and under-eye creases from the previous diffuse map without compensating for the change in either the mesh or the normal map (the texture that fakes a lot of the topography we see under different lighting conditions). Before the update, face 2 for male Elezen was the option you might've chosen if you wanted a less gaunt but still conventionally handsome, masculine face -- but the opposite is true now lol. It's very telling.

Looking at the /alert expression makes me realize how broken things are. my /think used to be so cute and now it's weird looking. Everything about my upper lip is WRONG! (female miqo face 3 mouth 4)

Feathetaria is still refusing to MSQ until she feels comfortable with her own face.

I am genuinely starting to wonder if there was some sort of rush at the end and people had to hurriedly create new faces while not bothering to make the correct lip color shapes for each face and mouth option. You can literally see the outline still of where his lip color should go to if they kept the same mouth from your pre-DT images! This has been VERY obvious on male elezen but I'm starting to think it might be why lips seem off and more homogenized across the board on most races...

Could someone link the Japanese counterpart to this thread? I don’t plan on embarrassing myself by trying to post there with a translator but I’d like to see what the feedback they’re giving looks like.

I looked at some Endwalker pics, and gosh the eyebrow color change is such a bother. They're just invisible comparatively. Some comparison pics (sorry they're not as good. The emotes don't really look quite the same anymore so it's harder to get matching angles).I know the skintone is different, I changed it to a bit warmer for Dawntrail, so don't mind that.
