You could basically just hide behind the boss, only moving for the telegraphed cleaves from the center of the room.

    No effort needed.

I'm 6'5 IRL and so I have massive hands, and even for me trying to press SHIFT-9 would be a task, especially when trying to move at the same time.

Personally, I use 12345ADRFXCV as my 12 binds as they're all within a single key's distance from my movement keys (QWES, I prefer left/right on Q/E so I don't have to move my fingers as far to reach the 12345 keys), then CTRL and SHIFT modified versions for two more hotbars. I have remapped the two side buttons on my mouse to act as CTRL and SHIFT, so I can easily press movement, a modifier key (using my mouse hand) and an actual keybind to do a spell/action, all at the same time. I'd recommend trying that out (if you have an MMO mouse disregard this)
i generally only use keybands 1-6-ish on the first bar, every other button i click on. because i can't find comfortable binds for all of these buttons, i've tried like control-number or shift number but it's too hard to press those while also worrying about movement. i don't have an mmo mouse,my mouse only has to side buttons in addition to left and right click, and i have sprint bound to the most easily reached side button.

Whatever is comfortable for you can work - you have entire keyboard to work with, and there's few buttons very close to WASD that should be easy to press - QERFCV for example. No harm in trying - maybe there's setup that'll be more comfortable than what you're currently running?

Also, regarding your screenshot, you're standing very far away from the boss, at an awkward angle - including camera angle; dodging a cleave followup from here would require you to run all the way to the boss, through them, and at this angle carefully mixing W and D inputs so you don't run through poison (or rotating the camera, which fully occupies your mouse). See where rest of your party is standing - next to the boss in a spot where dodging big cleave can easily be done by just running through. You know the mechanic, you know where you'll need to move - if you preposition yourself and camera in a way that lets you dodge by using just single button (right next to the boss, looking directly north - in which case A/D are only buttons you need to dodge safely), pressing or clicking other buttons while running will be easier - you don't need to rotate camera, you don't need to run around a hazard, you're moving in a straight line. The trick here is to be proactively lazy - the less you need to do during mechanics, the lower chance something will go wrong; park yourself in a spot where you see everything you need and can move as little as possible, pressing as few buttons as possible.
I'm trying to stand somewhere where i'm at a distance but still within phelgma range, i worry if i get to close to the boss i won't see everything i need to, and i want to use what range i have on my abilities rather than stay in melee range, that could end badly...

There is you problem, stop clicking and use hotkeys. Clicking skills is like crippling yourself.

also sage has enough instant casts to do damage while moving, you just have to keep your charges of Toxicon and Phlegma for these situations.

Also as mentioned before, slidecasting is a thing that allows you to move while casting, but that is probably too advanced for you to understand.

I have to agree on this a little bit, since there is a big problem of button bloat in this game it can be really difficult for people to manage all the hotkeys, maybe that is also a problem why so many casual palyers struggle in this game and have said it over and over that there are oo many hotkeys required to play, but i always meet deaf ears.

I highly recommend you get one of the many MMO mice out there, it will solve all your hotkey problems
    example razer Naga:

set your side buttons to ctrl or shift or alt
set your extra skills to ctrl+123456, shift+123456.....etc, you can press the ctrl button you set on your mouse, and press 1~6 as usual
you'll be able to move and use skills at the same time.
In this case you have 2 extra buttons, means you can set up to 12 more skills that are fast to react on while moving.
It will take a bit of time to get used to, but it works because that's how I bind my skills

but if i use my mouse buttons to access the control/shift buttons more easily, i have to unbind sprint and icarus from them and that means i'd probably have to click sprint for movement or have to slowly click icarus to icarus to a party memeber...
and even then control and shift 1-6 would like... at most give me keybands for the addersgall and for like a handful of ogcd cooldowns, there would still be important buttons i'd have to click still (in addition to sprint and icarus, because i would have to unbind sprint and icarus from the mouse buttons to do this, all of the buttons i had to put on the far-right side of the hotbars, like soteria, krasis, pneuma, zoe, lucid dreaming etc.)

you can also set keybinds with letters, as in abcde etc. If you would like quick access to sprint without screwing up your skill hot bars, you can set it as maybe ctrl+Q or ctrl+R, alt+R etc, something that doesn't clash with your other default settings.
I also have skills set in QERTFG etc... whatever you find it easier to press when you're in a rush.
But like I said, it takes some time to get used to, so it will be like pressing 123456 when you're used to it.

I do have more side buttons for my mouse, but I use one for jumping and calling out my mount which has nothing to do with dungeons or raids, it for running in open world to get to another quest point or fate point, I have an open hand to eat while in transfer lol.
Making some adjustments will be much easier to run things and you'll feel it's a whole new experience, I didn't use to have a mouse with side buttons before too, it definitely made things a lot easier after I got one and got used to it.

No promo here, but I use a logitech G502 X, you can search it up and see what it looks like, it does have like 10 keys but in battle the most I use are only the side 2 keys, which is enough to get me through EX Trials

but the problem i found with binding letter keys, is you have to take your fingers off of wasd which will get you killed during punishing, fast snapshooting mechanics like this.

I use standard mode for my directions, I'm not sure if you're using legacy mode.
As long as I use my mouse to face the direction needed, I can use my middle to press W to move forward (let's say you turn left and move forward, it will be the same as running "left") and use my index finger to tap any other keys.

Everything new takes some practice and getting used to.
Of course I'm not forcing you to change the way you play, I'm just giving you some advice on how to adjust your keybinds, if you want you can still continue to play it as it is and that's perfectly fine.
