And yet there are still NPCs running around in the zone with "unfinished business"

Look, they can hardwire Wuk Lamat to the mainframe and bring them back with the power of friendship for all I care.

If I had my way that place would be a smoking crater, but I can see how the storyline will bring it back in time.

This has forever tainted my view of the wol, my character is now evil.

From EW where we forgave a genocidal bird girl who killed who knows how many planets to DT where we become the mass murderer yourself what up square enix?
The evil came in taking the lives of the living to sustain the dead. You didn't listen to Cachiua.

Please, don't stop to think how many times we've killed someone to "put them out of their misery", or you'll fall into alcoholism at this rate.

Based on personal experiences, I just didn't enjoy watching an entire zone of children be killed off/erased, whatever wording you would like to use. No justification in the story makes me feel good about that and maybe that's just me and my trauma but I hated it. I hated being a part of that. And then you go back to that part of the zone and the kid is like, "finish playing this game with me? All my friends disappeared." I found it gross and cheap.

"It was to elicit an emotional response!" no, I don't care. My emotional response to that is nothing but a total loss of respect to everyone involved in writing this story.

There is an aetheryte current quest called 'Well Wishing at the Wishing Well'. The salesperson implies that they are aware the place there is coming to an end. It's a sweet moment where they almost seem to be headed back into the life stream when you finish their quest.

Otis is over 300 years old. If that kid died, it was likely before you were born. Their mannerisms may be child like, but they can comprehend the city is on the brink when Zoraal Ja sucked up all the power to fight you. That kid had the quest before you shut off one of the grids yes?

And from what kriles parents say with the Alexandrians being militaristic, it's as if Everkeep itself was intended as an anchor to harvest shards while the "Alexandrian" endless got to live out their afterlives in perpetuity. But that plan got messed up when the portal key got lost, and then their paradise Living Memory got flooded with random people.

...except if they'd go into the life stream, that goes completely against the given explanation that these are just memories on a computer, separated from the souls. Because all established lore is that souls go back to the life stream. Only in the normal case would it be that the memories etched onto those souls would go with it (see explanation given by Montichaigne in EW), but with the whole separation and soul scrubbing process that the story keeps going on about in this zone it is unambiguously clear that the normal case doesn't apply for the Endless. Their cessation of existence is simply an oblivion that leaves nothing behind.

You simply can not hold this discussion on the arguments that the story presents, because the story is self-contradictory.

Even if that's true, how does the story contradict itself? It was meant to be a symbolic gesture to you the player. Their memories in that place had been carried for to long in a suspended state. Cachiua would never be satisfied in that place never being able to leave, because those were all the memories of her curiosity and need for exploring.

That's exactly what my point is too, unless you decide to cherrypick infos in dialogue, you are presented with a ton of infos that make no sense in the grand scheme of things but it is easier to say "u didnt pay attention lol" when they are the ones who didn't.
