Framerate Issues Since Dawntrail Launch

Just chiming in to say that I am experiencing this issue, game runs smooth locked at 118. But there is definitely stuttering at completely random moments, what's funny is the ingame fps shows it going to 116-117 only but it definitely feels like it's worse than that.

I am having that same issue, it is not consistent or anything but at any random time, maybe once every hour or so my frames freeze for just a second.
It's not too bad but it gets annoying. especially since i have spent so much money for an mmo expansion.

I've been having problems with frames micro-stuttering but staying at 59-60 FPS average. Playing on recommended settings and FFXIV will hover at 60-70% GPU usage then drop to 40% on a micro-stutter and go back to 60-70%. The hottest my GPU gets is 81°C so it isn't throttling.

This has been happening sporadically since 6.3 but became noticeably worse since Dawntrail, incredibly worse since the July 6th update, and it's only been deteriorating since then. I tried to play today and it's really bad. I had a 450ms frame lockup that happened during a ground AOE which made it hard to avoid. I've tried everything to fix it but the only intervention that alleviates it at all is playing in fullscreen instead of borderless and that only lessens it slightly.

81c is close to throttling for an RTX 3000 Series GPU.

I found using Borderless Windowed mode set to 60Hz with the in-game frame rate setting set to 60 fixed my GPU usage issue and random stutters, I have a 144Hz monitor and also had to set it to 60Hz mode too, as for some reason, in the update they removed the 1/2 refresh rate option, so there isn't a way to select say 144Hz display mode, with 72 FPS, it has to be now, either 30, 60, Main display refresh rate (120/144/240) or None for unlocked.

If I use Full Screen mode, I noticed no matter what refresh rate I selected, the game is trying to force the refresh rate at 1 to 2 Hz lower than whatever I select.
For example, I set 144Hz, then open the System Configuration menu, it shows the FPS at 142-143, it won't stay on 144 for long, even not doing anything, or moving in a city, its 142-143 then 144.
This happens with it set to 60Hz, I get 57-58 then it jumps to 59 and 60.

This is the stutter issue I had, it didn't matter on low or max settings, in Inn room or city, something is broken with it.

Obviously, I would rather have my monitor set to 144Hz, use Borderless Windowed mode and lock the in-game FPS to 1/2 (72 FPS), but even using Nvidia CP locking the Max frame limit to 72, this game shows in the menu its running at 70-71 then jumps to 72 non-stop, creating stutters.

Something isn't working right.

i just lag the whole time, and now today it can't even log in the game..
and hunt trains are impossible for me cuz of this lag just before the emergency maintenance everything was smooth
i did hunts dungeons EX and everything now i can't even craft peacefully or even log in T_T and the load screen takes sooo long
my siblings are in the same house even sitting on a PC beside me and the game is so normal with them :s

I really hope the update ends up fixing some of the issues at least. The game is getting unplayable for me at this point. At first the lag was minor, not even a second. Now it has gotten to the point where it is getting to the point that it is nearing 5 second freezes. I've tried all I can at this point, now I just have to wait.

Just adding a confirmation with my info to the pile...

I'm getting random frame-pacing issues with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x and AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT. The game and windows are both installed on SSD. The micro stutters can happen anywhere but happen worse when there's more people in an area (like Tuliyollal). I had no frame-pacing issues at all prior to patch 7.0.

I wanted to circle back around to this and add that I'm getting frame pacing issues even in cutscenes where there are no characters visible and the screen is just panning across empty landscape. So, it doesn't even have to be a populated area. It's just constantly happening now and then.

As for my case I get this somewhat under control with my dual monitor setup, went for the surround configuration in Nvidia Control Panel, moved one client to main and another client on second monitor+browser(youtube), does not seems to lag until I overload the GPU utilization with more tasks.

I am glad to find out that the problem is widespread. I tried several troubleshooting methods, but nothing worked. Mind you, I have a very good rig.

Update: Uninstalling Corsair iCue has alleviated some of the stuttering I was experiencing, though it hasn't completely resolved the issue. I hope SE addresses this problem instead of leaving us to find temporary fixes.

Small update:

I'm still having issues with my game. Only solution I've gotten to work, is enabling FSR and setting the game back to Borderless Windowed mode with 3D Resolution Scaling turned to 75 or below. Game appears a little fuzzy, but the texture quality and shadows are at their highest.

Friends of mine are pitching together to help me save up for a PC. It's the only permanent 'solution' we've come to. It frustrates me a little still, that I cannot play this game to its fullest currently. Hopefully Square addresses our issues, like I've said before. When I do get the PC in the coming months, I'll make another post on if my performance has improved or not. I will also make a post once Tuesday's update comes out.
