    Framerate Issues Since Dawntrail Launch

I am having horrific framerate issues during cutscenes and dungeons. Certain cutscenes are immensely lagging, meanwhile certain dungeon boss effects eat at my framerate for a few seconds. I am playing on a laptop, with custom settings (everything set to low), but during the Benchmark Tool I was running the Benchmark at Laptop (High) settings with no issues. I have disabled Nvidia GForce Experience completely, even turned it back on, just to turn it back off. I am playing in Full Screen now, was previously playing in Borderless Windowed but the issue still persists. Is there anything I can do at all to fix my performance? I cannot find anyone else having my issues. My specs are:

    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Disc 0 (D: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500 GBs (my game is on this)
    System Model: G5 5590
    Memory: 16384MB RAM

I have been having this exact same problem since DT released. If you find a solution, please share. Nothing I have tried has worked.

Same, the first day was still okayish but the framerate drops are getting worse and worse now. To the extend I'm scared to que for anything because I won't be able to play with this problem.

Pre patch I had zero framerate issues. Many people have been vocal about this, so I'm kinda sure it's game related and has nothing to do with my hardware...

I just wanted to write and say that I have not found any solutions to my problem still. My graphics card and OS meet the requirements to run Dawntrail just fine. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one being affected by this. I haven't seen this talked about elsewhere on the Forum.

The issue on my end persists in Dawntrail-related dungeons, cutscenes, at times the overworld too. It happened once during The Bowl of Embers (Hard) during Ifrit's Hellfire attack. This Trial has never caused me issues before until 7.0's release. I see noticable framerate drops/hitching during excessive particle effects from boss attacks, or sometimes just randomly during combat.

I have done everything I possibly can to try and remedy this issue to no avail. I really hope Square Enix addresses this issue, it's ruining my experience of playing overall.

My particular model of laptop does not support DLSS or enable/disable Gsync. But yes, I have configured this game through the Nvidia Control Panel, GeForce Experience, and within the game itself. I have even set this game to High Performance through Windows' Display Graphics Settings, and configured my external monitor's display so it uses my Nvidia Graphics Card and so the game runs on it instead of my laptop itself. I have done everything I possibly can to try and make Dawntrail run smoothly. There are periods of time where my game runs perfectly fine, but there are certain cutscenes during MSQ that lagged/hitched terribly and Dawntrail-specific dungeons prove to be unplayable unless I set 3D Resolution Scaling to 50 (lowest).

FPS drops from 144 to 120 every 2 minutes causing a stuttering. Doesn't matter if i'm in a random place alone, dungeon or in a city.

Just dropping an update here since people have been quite critical of my setup, I'm clearly not an IT expert either

I was reading from CPU-Z which seems to give the base DRAM frequency not the effective clock rate in a dual-channel environment. Checking in performance monitor my RAM was at 2400MHz which led me to realize my XMP reverted to disabled, so enabling that bumped that up to 3000MHz which slightly increased FPS in the trouble areas.

Also, I realize my CPU is an older generation, but replacing that isn't as simple as slotting in a new CPU(need new MOBO and probably new RAM) so that's why I have a much higher tier GPU as it's plug-and-play. Incremental upgrades, you know?

    tl;dr
Enabling XMP in the BIOS did slightly alleviate the issue (getting 57 FPS at the same area vs 47), so if anyone is having similar issues this might be an avenue to look into.

DDR4 2400 is still extremely slow.

    Ideal sweet spot for DDR4 RAM is 3200 CL16 or 3600 CL18.

I understand your idealogy on the upgrades but buying a Ferrari and it running like a Fiat Punto must feel really bad, especially a strix 4090 which can exceed 2 grand.

Depends which Turing card you have...

Turing is used by cards ranging from the GTX 1630 to the RTX 2080 Ti.

RTX 20 series can use DLSS, GTX cannot.

GTX lacks Tensor cores which are used by DLSS.

FSR 2/3 was not used because if I recall they require Direct X 12 which was supposed to be a part of the graphics update....

There is a version of FSR 2, which is compatible with DirectX 11. It is possible to get it but it is not opensource.

    Cheers
