Job identity... For years they have made every casters job identity black mage and every healers job identity white mage.
As has been said before, saying "a Black Mage has no business wearing Dragoon gear" is a little meaningless when you enter a trial and find yourself in a team like this:

And yet I will stand by it. I don't care if anyone decides to dress up as a school girl, crazy mascot, or uses the unlockable PvP gear to actually be a caster in full plate. AF gear should not be shared with other Jobs. That still leaves you with 99% of the other gear, if they hopefully ever lift the restrictions.

May I ask why? I'm not clear on your reasoning to be honest. And yet I will stand by it. your reasoning went straight out of the window once you say what is marked, at this point what you have is pure stubbornness. And yet I will stand by it. why is WoW living rent free inside your heads?
But... has he seen the last few PVP Season Pass armors? They are all classless level 1 full plate armors. We also have the Bozjan Armors designed after FFT Judges armor. So literally, a Black Mage can waltz into a dungeon wearing a full plate armor. Yoshi-P's argument literally has no merrit.
RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
Probably can't give you any reasoning that would satisfy you. I simply think there are things that only your chosen Job should have access to. Like the Dragoon having the specific imagery of a Dragon Knight soaring through the skies with Lance in hand. Not being a caster, glued to the ground, casting fireballs.
Sure, me saying I don't mind casters in full plate might seemingly destroy my argument, but does it? Yes, I don't mind casters wearing "tank" gear. But regular leveling or universal glam gear doesn't have Job identifying features. I put on leveling tank gear and put away my weapon. What am I? A Dark Knight, Paladin, Warrior or Gunbreaker? A lot of Maiming gear also looks like Fending gear, but with a different coat of paint. Why can't I have the Fending paint on my Maiming gear?
Now to the full plate caster. Does he look like a Dark Knight, Paladin, Warrior or Gunbreaker? He looks like an Elden Ring CaC caster in full plate.
So again, this is my reasoning, which I know probably won't satisfy you. May I ask why you'd care to wear Dragoon gear as a caster, instead of simply picking up a lance?
Fair enough. But by the same token, I don’t see the value in having a Dragoon soaring through the skies wearing a frog suit.Probably can't give you any reasoning that would satisfy you. Take another look at the screenshot I submitted a few posts up. Does that bikini-wearing chicken-head player look like a Bard, Dancer or Machinist?
I wouldn’t, personally. But by the same token I don’t really see why I shouldn’t be able to wear, for example, the Panthean caster dress as a Dancer either.
And I wouldn’t dress as a frog and hide my weapon either.
Job identity is irrelevant,. since you can see icons near the character names, and have the names colored based on the role.
Jobs only matter in PF when filling to see if you have balanced group, in DF when healers die to see if there is somebody that can rez them and if you are BLU and want to yoink appropriate mimicry.
Beyond that, why exactly you would care what job somebody is? You even disable their battle effects to reduce noise.
