I like the idea of FFXI-2, but I always thought that FFXI was too time consuming to get much done within a reasonable time. Don't get me wrong I want a challenging game, but not one where it takes 30 minutes to an hour to get a solid party and then staying in party for a few hours if your lucky to get a single level. Not to mention painfully long quests to get a map as a reward. I think they should make it a less time consuming. That's what I like about FFXIV is that I can get on and actually get several things accomplished in the same time it took me on 11 to get a party and get that one level.
Wouldn't this be better suited on the XI forums?
Graphics don't matter to me. They can matter to others tho. That would still be in the list for a remake tho.You say that the graphics don't matter in FFXI, then what else could possibly go "right" if they re-released FFXI again? All it would have is new graphics, which, don't really matter, right?
I can assume you also mean a change in battle tempo, a few changes here and there to the mechanics, etc. But honestly, I'm just not sure I'd be able to accept playing another FFXI again.
All you are wanting is this game to get better. No matter which way you go, you're going to have to wait. In this case, you'd have to wait about another year for them to re-release FFXI. Whatever FFXIV has right now is either being changed or overhauled completely. Why in the world would you scrap any of it? Almost the whole game is being redesigned for us anyways. :P
I'm not suggesting changing the battle tempo either. I'm suggesting making most of the game's core mechanics the same, only tweaking things like abilities to work in the long run, perhaps a smoother level curve (instead of a sudden jump in exp requirement after level 50), or level sync from release.
FFXIV will still always be different from FFXI no matter what they do with it. That other 20 percent or so of those who haven't played FFXI are still an influential chunk.
Yup, it might very well be too early to ask for this, but it doesn't hurt to suggest the idea.
What you mean to say is, all the stuff that is "useful" looks the same right now. There's a lot of useless junk in the game right now that all looks different from each other - now if only there was a reason to wear it...
If only there was another game that had a variety of "useful" gear with different appearances... oh wait, there is! Now they just need to re-release it for higher-quality systems.
^ What Corrderio said. Maybe not to the extent as FFXIV has it, but in FFXIV, it wasn't just color changes. The armors actually look a little different from the next. ex. The Mage hat from Hempen to Canvas, slightly tilted a different style.
Simple things like that. Plus you are comparing FFXIV's 6 month status to a game that has been out for 8 years x-x
EDIT: so what i get so far is that you want the same look and appeal of ffxi (not the graphics). Same culture, same world, possibly even new areas to explore. Get rid of the WotG and Abyssea alternate worlds though.

Who knows? maybe the stats for some gear may change in the future. Some items are useless right now because they were implemented when the game was being ran by someone who envisioned this game to be made for a more RP-Oriented crowd. With that being said, customization was key to this aspect.
