Release FFXI again

Before you all flame, let me make this perfectly clear:

I AM NOT POSTING ABOUT FFXIV BEING ANYTHING LIKE FFXI AT ALL

Now onto the point of this thread...

There's no escaping the blatantly obvious fact that most of you have played FFXI and most of you who have are no longer playing FFXI. The fact we have up to 300-post-count threads (or more) on the subject of FFXI-2 is a clear indication of that (not to mention the poll that also further indicated that).

Truth is, you're just sick and tired of FFXI. The game is dated, the interface is intolerable, the graphics (not that they matter) blow, and (possibly) the level cap increase is what tipped over your decision.

Don't feel ashamed. I'm on your side! But instead of begging for FFXIV to change, why not beg for another release of FFXI?

I'm talking about a whole re-release of the same game - different servers, updated graphics, updated UI, different platforms (PS3 or whatever). Hell, they can even be progression-lockout servers for all I care. They could even redesign/rebalance jobs and abilities right from scratch. Best of all: no PS2 limitations, reselling the title will generate more revenue, and people can just choose between FFXI or FFXIV - everybody wins!

Let's face it, people loved FFXI! would you play it again if it were newer/better?

I think SE have their hands full with FF14 to make a seperate version of FF11 HD.

I say SE pumps out XIV then after the game is stable work on a FFXI-2 bring back vanadiel in a new beautiful game. >.>

I know that the magnitude of a revamp like this would be massive, but I'd play an updated XI over XIV anyday.
IMO, the gameplay elements that make up XI is the best MMO setting ever, but I feel estranged after being spoiled by next generation graphics and faster gameplay.
That being said, I don't want XIV to be XI-2, I would rather it be it's spiritual successor and start to become more unique after the ground work has been laid out.

You say that the graphics don't matter in FFXI, then what else could possibly go "right" if they re-released FFXI again? All it would have is new graphics, which, don't really matter, right?

I can assume you also mean a change in battle tempo, a few changes here and there to the mechanics, etc. But honestly, I'm just not sure I'd be able to accept playing another FFXI again.

All you are wanting is this game to get better. No matter which way you go, you're going to have to wait. In this case, you'd have to wait about another year for them to re-release FFXI. Whatever FFXIV has right now is either being changed or overhauled completely. Why in the world would you scrap any of it? Almost the whole game is being redesigned for us anyways. :P

Of course, you would think that using the same ideas from FFXI would be great to make this game better. Yes, "currently" it would make it better, but I really have a hard time believing that it would do great for the game in the long run.

I wish. FFXI was so much better than whatever this is. The armor was way more interesting, the lore was definitely there, the races were more interesting to look at... Even the environments were cooler. At least in FFXI the environments didn't obviously repeat. =\

FFXIV will probably end up being a less hardcore version of FFXI, and I'm okay with that.

New storyline/timeline, same world, new mechanics, new jobs, better character customization and much MUCH more. The graphics would just be something expected being a SE title and all.

FFXI w/ 8 years of content vs. FFXIV with 6 months of content = FFXI
FFXI w/ 8 years of content vs FFXIV with 8 years of content = FFXIV. (Hands Down.)
