What bout players who pays $9.99 for months of service at a time? Do we get a discount also?

As long as you have subbed for 90 days (approx 3 months) ie you have payed $29.97 you will get the legacy benefits.

Ah that's a relief thanks! I had presumed that the 2.0 beta would be something else that would run before 2.0 was introduced to the main servers, and had also presumed that this Beta would start 14th May at the same time as the Welcome Back Campaign (assumption being the mother of all etc.).

I've got plenty still to do before November, so I can't see myself not being subscribed all the way through! Am even forgoing GW2 and TSW coz FFXIV is so super-fun at the moment.

FFXIV is indeed pretty fun atm and anyone has a change to get the legacy status. To clear any confusion, what is starting on or around November is the 2.0 Beta. FXIV 2.0 is released in 2013.

Just going to pop in quickly to clarify Legacy member qualification for those that are unsure:

Paying for at least 90 days at any time between January 6, 2012 and the start of 2.0 beta testing is how you qualify to become a Legacy member. You do not need to pay for 90 days in a row to qualify.

Considering how folks put up with the way the game launched, I think adding the players name to the credits is a nice gesture

I was reading an interview from several months back a couple days ago. It was one of the ones where Yoshi-P talked about how he didn't reveal the plans for 2.0 immediately since he hadn't gained the trust of the players yet. Was kind of disappointed before then since, for all intents and purposes, they appeared as if they weren't really working on much with all of that hidden.

Then all that info started pouring in. I started to trust Yoshi and the dev team.

Then 1.20 hit, and 1.21. Started to really enjoy XIV again and see they really were serious about salvaging the game.

Even with that said though, I didn't expect anything like this. I really do love that they're doing something like this to not only keep current players around, but show that their feedback and support is very much appreciated. It's really something special. My respect not just for the dev team, but for Square-Enix as a company has really gone up after reading all this info.
