I have seen people call people misogynist in a post that was asking for more Krile in the expansion for also expressing their dislike for Wuk Lamat... a character that is also a WOMAN. Mudslinging really doesn't get anyone anywhere.Oh, come on, stop it with Transphobia stuff. Why do many people think that saying Wuk Lamat is not a well-made character is a dog whistle for transphobe?? Is it because of the character's English VA is a trans person? What's next? If the female voiced character gets criticized, does that make the criticizers misogynist too?
So let me get this straight:I'm sorry, but nothing you wrote is a fact. It's all your opinion. An opinion few here seem to share.
Nothing you wrote was compelling, or even worth responding to. It was Wuk, not Koana, who won the contest. It felt to me Koana was added more as plot device so Wuk can just abandon her ruling duties minutes after ascending into the position to be a soldier. She's not even there with her own people - she's tagging along with the Scions doing Scion work for which she isn't even qualified.
Anyway, I'm glad you lack the critical thinking skills I have, but I guess it's helpful to you so you can enjoy Wuk and her writing more than I can.
Bakool Ja Ja didn't note that we were a threat?
We didn't match Gulool Ja Ja in combat or beat their shade?
The final boss didn't specify us as the greatest threat?
Wuk Lamat and Koana didn't strategize to have him handle the city's defenses while Wuk Lamat pursued Sphene and Zoraal Ja, thus justifying her going out in the first place?
There are no examples of an irritating character having good character development?
FF14's devs don't decide a character's voice direction and have final say on takes?
Bakool Ja Ja orchestarted a hostage situation to avoid fighting us didn't happen?
Sphene and Wuk Lamat weren't built up as foils who both love their people and value them greatly?
NONE of these happend and are not facts... despite them being in the story and clearly having happened?
Sir, I don't think you know what "facts" are, or are you really prepared to say none of this happened?
I didn't even know the VA was a trans person until I got called a transphobe for not liking the character.Oh, come on, stop it with Transphobia stuff. I will not, especially when I have personally seen a GREAT amount of transphobia surrounding the character and her English VA. Especially now that certain figures have attached themselves to the whole thing, there is a substantial amount of people who dislike the character for no reason other than their favorite internet personality said to for transphobic or other asinine reasons.Oh, come on, stop it with Transphobia stuff. I never said my opinions were facts either. Also I never said that there were no irritating characters with good character development - I actually said you need to redeem the irritating character. If you can't have reading comprehension for some brief comments, I have no idea how you claim to be so superior to the rest of us in understanding the entire expansion. So let me get this straight:

Concession accepted, you don't know what facts at despite being called out to defend your statement.I never said my opinions were facts either. Right, but the JP forum is also critical of her and it's a different VA so I kinda feel you're full of it. So while there maybe a tiny amount of morons spouting stuff, the VAST majority of the criticism has been aimed at the character not the VA, and the vast majority of the criticism of the VA has been about her not being good. The first to talk about her being trans was a game journo, almost as if they were trying to setup a scapegoat, trying to rile up the usual tiny contingent of clowns just so they can then try and brush away all the criticism about the poor quality of the VA and terrible terrible writing. I was here day 1 complaining about how terrible the story is, the initial posts talking about the bad VA went on for 2 days before anyone knew or mentioned the VA was trans. So again, you're full of it.I will not, especially when I have personally seen a GREAT amount of transphobia surrounding the character and her English VA. Personally I liked the performance, and didn't find her irritating. This is just a personal taste thing. Some people like the performance some don't, there's no objective ruling here. Just a matter of opinion so not much to really discuss.
Wuk absolutely should not have stayed behind in the ending. She is the protagonist of the story and the villain is her foil, she absolutely needed to be there. I do wish tha Erenville and Krile, and the other scions, had more to do throughout the expansion as a whole, but they were not lacking in the final zone and got great caps to their stories this expansion there. My ideal fix would have been to give them more to do in the first half etc, not to take Wuk Lamat out of the finale. And while yes she's one of the rulers, she's one of two rulers. If something happened to her, the nation wouldn't plunge into chaos. It's part of the whole point of having two of them in the first place. I have no issues with her being in the finale, especially since this is a fantasy game where leaders fighting up front is fairly common in general anyway. Furthermore, and let's not forget this point, the villain challenged her to come and get him and that was the whole reason he didn't just level Tuliloyol when he had the chance. If she didn't take up that challenge and the villain saw she wasn't, then he'd likely just attack again before the city was ready to defend itself.
As far as our character having agency in the story, this has never been the case. We have never been able to make meaningful choices. DT is not new or different in that regard. We always have been and always will be on rails due to the nature of the game. It's a fair point to critisize but more a general issue with the game than a DT speicfic issue.
The vacation thing was said in jest back at the first fanfest and they made it clear that wasn't actually happening. Summer vacation was more a meme than anything.
But to come in here and wash every single point of criticism with that label adds nothing to the discussion, many in here, less than I would have liked but still, have condemned the grift being put on while still voicing a measured opinion against how the character of Wuk Lamat was portrayed or used. You can add to the discussion with the things about the character you feel were done well, when they added to the story for you, do a detailed break down instead of a reactionary mudslinging contest.I will not, especially when I have personally seen a GREAT amount of transphobia surrounding the character and her English VA. I fear your reading comprehension may be insufficient, as I applied that to a singular argument someone made, not to everyone who disliked Wuk Lamat as a whole. Re-read my post.
