if certain leaks are to be believed, Kate turned away an actual latina VA for wuk in favor of keeping Sena on board.
Take this with a grain of salt, but I've also heard Sena was apparently very rude in the studio. idk how legitimate these claims may be but judging by her behavior on social media I'm inclined to believe them.
It's a shame. Actions like this make it harder for trans VAs who actually know what they're doing to get work.

Nah, this is just generally typical American VA behavior on social media. Her performance wasn't good and I believe that is more on the fault of the English localization team (hell, it's not just Wuk that sounds bad).

And I don't need to proof that, just go and check review bombing in metacritic and steam with the SBi conspiracy on most posts, or the other modern term DEI. It would be outrageous someone to have 100+ IQ and manage to connect the dots.

Bro is having a meltdown because people think a voice actor did a piss poor job when they had 7000+ lines of dialogue and overshadowed every other person by at least double the amount of speaking...

My only complaint is the fake yelling and lack of range. I hate when someone fake yells, takes me out of a scene entirely.

You can tell it is a fake tell because you can replicate easily yourself. For example, when you were a kid trying to be quiet but wanted to simulate a shout, you'd just do it in your normal talking voice but add a little flavor to it to make it sound like a shout.... It is still your talking voice and it has never accurately sounded like that character is actually in danger, is surprised by something, is yelling over loud sounds, etc.

Overall, I'm not sure if it is the VA or the person directing them, her voice lines fall flat often and shouting is just the most prominent example.

How am I supposed to be invested in a scene if a VA has the same range as Eugene Levy? If you don't know who that is, YouTube it and it'll make sense.

You can do better with VA range and have done so in the past. Clive from FF16 is probably the best example of a VA with range. Dude sounded absolutely devastated when a certain event went wrong, like legit devastated and it hurt to hear Clive that upset. I say Clive not the VA because he did it so well I never thought about the person behind Clive in that moment. Every time Wuk Lamat has a scene though, at least once I'm like "why didn't they at least try to reproduce the actual emotion being conveyed here?

And absolutely right about the range. You can tell the difference the moment strong emotion needed to be applied with a particular intensity. It falls off hard...The regular voice was quite fine though for Wuk Lamat

Had to add that the voice acting in the last trial was so so bad, it ruined it for me. The whole time I could not stop cringing, because where it’s supposed to sound like emotion, it sounded so flat. I hated it. Don’t care who voices Wuk and why they got the part, but holy hell was it bad. Never mind the forced, fake accent.

Tried all 4 languages for that and unfortunately, the scene as a whole felt flat. Yeah japanese sounded better than the others but that was about it.

It feels like a very shitty attempt to try and link actual criticism of the localization and VA to people not liking trans people, which is a good way for all of it to be discarded at a corporate level.

Glad we come to an Agreement that the English VA of wuk(no matter what this person says it is) and the writing is Dogwater. And both need to be replaced and changed if she is in post 7.0 content.

The issue is going to be is if SE views the new writer as bad. I dont have a lot of high hopes for SE at a corporate level, so good luck. Wuk Lamat most likely will not go past 7.4/.5 unless for some reason, the writing dictates she comes with us away from Tural (even though that makes no sense and kind of backstabs its own writing for 7.0).
