I'm not so sure about that. It can refer to the max amount of characters we can add to an account for additional charges, not how many we get as a base number. The way the wrote it does seem to indicate you're correct, though. Not to mention Yoshi-P isn't stubborn enough to shrug off standard MMO formulas, as I'm sure we've all seen by now.

Irrelevant to me since I really want to focus on this one character, but good news for alt addicts I suppose. The lifetime discount was a huge surprise, and a very welcome one. More chocobo swag is awesome. The note about adding our character names to the credits makes me laugh if only because it seems like they're basically saying "thanks for beta testing". Nice to be appreciate at least, haha.

Edit: Nevermind, just read Yoshi's post. Nice to see they're ditching the whole "character fee" thing. <3

8 characters per server is much better

Not that too many view the credits, but it's a good indications they're (ironically) a lot more closer to the community than some other MMO devs, very rarely would you even dream of getting into a game's credits without being directly involved with development (more so than feedback) or select alpha/beta testers.

Also with the Legacy campaign, they could start to use Legacy accounts as a kind of veteran system, people with a Legacy account get extra stuff through out the life of the game, mind that could piss ppl off a bit.

Hmm, what's the catch?

The catch is that we slogged through the muck to get to this point. We've done our time and now we're getting rewarded.

I'm thrilled. Exclusive chocobo, name in the credits, reduced fees? I already had the 7th umbral era storyline, the goobbhue mount, knowing what Eorza was like before it all went to hell, so I was already happy. This just makes me beam though. Thank you SE!
