Why are they even going with a Spanish-ish accent for some of the characters? Isn't the reason why Spanish is spoken in the first place because of a man named Cortes? Yes THAT Cortes.

Note: I don't think it's a full on Spanish accent, but I think that's where they got the inspiration from as in from Modern day South and Central America. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I actually thought the voice acting quality was a step up from previous expansions, but do concede that the mixing felt a little off in places. Maybe they changed the recording techniques or equipment or something. I also thought it was understood that some of SE's English direction just doesn't seem to fit sometimes. I personally think it's the body language on display that clashes, since east and west cultures are very different when it comes to that stuff, so some lines will inevitably miss their mark. Perhaps if they "localized" the cutscene rigging things might fit better, but that is a dumb idea just thinking about it.

I could definitely see a mixed reception to Zone 4's vocal choices. Definitely some Barry Manilow-sounding lallafel vibes there that play almost for laughs. It's grown on me but was jarring at first.

Overall I think Wuk Lamat did great; it was a pretty big gamble for SE to rest the bulk of the expansion on her shoulders but by the end of the MSQ I think she fit in just fine. Dragging the English VA for doing her job is hella cringe though and I hope the community pushes back hard against that behavior. A quick skim of the comments seems to show some agreement, so I'm thankful for that.

Sounds like you're looking for confirmation bias. I see lots of talk everywhere of people hating the voice actress for her wooden performance. If they're not up to par, it's not unreasonable for people to ask her to step down. She didn't do a good job.

No, you're correct. They use Spanish phonetics for a lot of names and some of the characters remind me of my coworkers speaking in English (I'm South American)

I thought the voice-over sounded good and I enjoyed it. I think people are being weird about this. There have been other prominent roles with worse acting and I don't recall threads being generated about them.

I saw a post yesterday that, to cement their point, felt the need to include real-life pictures of all the people doing voice-overs for this character in various languages. As if that has anything to do with how well their voice-over work is.

Either the voice direction is shit or Wuk's VA cant yell doing that voice.

The difference is, those roles didn't spend an entire expansion taking the spotlight from the WoL. We are backseated in EVERY SINGLE CUTSCENE so that we can hear her yapping. And it is so terribly flat and in your face that it makes the entire MSQ experience absolutely miserable.

I've been streaming this to friends so we can treat the story like an MST3K session, because the story is bad enough, you have to do that to even stomach it. Just last night, one of us said "Oh wow! That was almost actual emotion in that line!"

Every time Wuk speaks from up on the balcony to the people below, without projecting her voice whatsoever, I'm surprised they can even hear her. I'm surprsied even people a few feet away can hear her. It's so bad and it happens on multiple occasions.

A large portion of her dialogue is just not delivered appropriately.
