Nope don't want it i love playing with random japanese players or any other non english speaking player. It makes the game more alive for me and the experience is pretty awesome. I mean whats the big deal about using the auto translator to speak to them and ask them to join your party or help you with a quest? you basically only need "do you need it?" "please assist" and the third would be the quest your on.

Unless there's a huge difference in server lag i'll stay with a worldwide server. The Japanese buy my wares, they would have no items without me!

But having so many different time zones jammed into the same server is not good. Makes it hard to schedule stuff with your team mates.

Most of the time NA and Japanese people stick with their own groups. Why waste space on a server if you have X % of people who are not willing to play with you or that can't even understand you when you talk?

Wouldn't it be easier if everyone in your server was from NA times zones, spoke english and you could interact with 100% of the server population? It would make grouping a lot easier.
Lol? I think the opposite. Having Many different people makes it easier to find parties and people to play. Not everyone work mornings. Some people work evening and overnight.

[QUOTE=Jinko;649094]LOL *watches as the forum flips out*

Oh yea I love playing with JP players .. not that I ever do .. or that I can understand them ... but it sure is cool. /sarcasm

so jinko, what was the point of this quote then? particularly this part ^ "or that i can understand them" do you understand my point now?
theres several interpretations to that quote 1. just being mentally lazy so you pulled it out of your ass 2, just another ignorant point to add to the list of this forum 3. you went to jail in japan, /drop soap j/k j/k 4. your social skills just suck? youre ashamed of dreams of running around in power ranger spandex? joke... so yeah, you did say you cant communicate with japanese players, wich was a lazy (and open to other interpretations) way to say the obvious, a language barrier exists. but resourceful players get past it.

having said all that, i hate the thought of segregated servers based on languange/ time zone, but i support choice, theres many legit reasons besides language, i wont step into that vipers nest , unless it rears its ugly head, if it does i have no problem smashing it.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

This has nothing to do with server location, and everything to do with the protocols the game is using. There are various ways of handling what data is handled client side, what data is handled server side, what data is sent, how many checks that data goes through, and how those checks are applied.

It's a case of poor decision making, not a case of "the server is too far away."

We've definitely played a different FFXI. Did you fight Provenance Watcher? Lol slow paced. The only "slow paced" bosses were the original rank missions bosses, every expansion the bosses were a lot more active to the point you had to be on your toes.

By the way, FFXI being "slow paced" still had nothing to do with the servers being in Japan, because those servers were a hell of a lot more optimized than XIV's.

Ironically, you say you belittle no one's opinions..yet as usual, you do whenever XI is mentioned.

I am not into regional server/worlds. My linkshell has people in it from all around the globe and I love that! I love looking at ls chat and seeing ~french~ even though I barely understand any of it. We just had several people from Spain join also so that helps me with remembering the Spanish I learned in grade school I love hearing about their cultures as well.
If I was stuck playing only with NA.... I don't even want to have to imagine that. Plus my "prime" play time isn't standard "NA" times. Its more like EU. I doubt SE would ever force regional servers on us, but if they did that would probably be the day I quit.

I wouldn't be opposed to this idea:

Step 4: Free access for people to choose between go an international server (old ones) or to go regional servers (new ones)

People who want to play with international friends will be happy with our actual servers, and people who want regional servers will be happy too.

    I don't mind it
It's different from the server merge which was trying to destroy bonds between players at first.
It's just the option to only play with people from your timezone, and I don't think that's a bad thing.

I transfered to the EU recommended server and I don't really regret it.
I lost my NA LS which is sad, but I made many new friends who speak my language, our LS grew and there is so much to do during the time I am online
Well, I understand people though who don't want to give up the bonds they made.
But if they introduce regional servers in 2.0, it would be optional to transfer there, nobody would be FORCED to so there is no reason to oppose the OPs idea.
