I want to give my guest pass to a friend so they could try out FFXIV the only problem being is how are they going to get a copy of the game client. I try looking around and didn't see a place for them to download it.

FFXIV is not on Steam. On the guess pass it says to lend your friend your FFXIV CD. Your only other alternatives are illegal.
HOWEVER Square does offer FFXIV for sale in digital format! 20.00USD will get your friend a copy. Not really a bad price! Consider it a future investment for 2.0![]()
The thing is this guy is someone I played with from FFXI I can't really give him a physical copy of the game. Seems odd they have a guest pass and no way for the person to download the game.FFXIV is not on Steam. On the guess pass it says to lend your friend your FFXIV CD. Yeah its designed to give to an rl friend, so you can pop round to thier house with your disk and install it then put the guest pass key in, not really for friends far away from you, your only option is to use doc mog's method, it will still work, I cannot post a link to one on here would prolly get me banned, but as I said, apart from buying on its your only choice.
It's obviously to prevent people from actually playing their game, besides all the wonderful suggestions above... you could also just mail him the disk if he's a long time friend. It wouldn't be too much if you are in the same country, and it *SHOULD* be reasonably safe to mail it (as in the disk shouldn't break). I'd suggest putting it in a box instead of something like a postcard... people always complain about stuff missing from cards... like cash/giftcards/pictures/etc.
