PF is indeed interesting when it comes to assessing players. Especially in regards to how clear parties are run. The only time I openly judged someone’s gameplay is when we had a MCH who refused to do damage - despite being ranged - while they moved and was doing less damage than our tanks. The only advice I could give them was to wait for someone to carry them to a clear and to prioritize getting the mechanics down since they refused to adjust their gameplay loop. But other than that as long as we clear we clear.

Most successful statics do both
Check logs then trial the player to see how they react to mechanics
If a dps is doing less damage than a healer then they're a waste of a slot regardless of if they can do mechanics.

Not that there's anything wrong with being unable to do good damage- but you should NOT expect to be able to get carried in the games hardest content.
