i wouldn't bet it. Safe bet for SE is that they add few not many and see the demands.
But you speak English, so why cant you play with people from the UK? I know alot of French and German they all mainly speak English ingame (some even play the English client over the German). There's no reason there can't be NA servers, JP servers, Euro servers, and international servers.
I will play on a NA only server as I do not speak JP, German, French, etc. and preferably this server would be located within North America for the best response time possible.
So tell me what do you have against the Brits? (main EU playerbase)
Also must be sad, he will never travel the world because of language barrier.... huh sad sad world
I hope you are including XI in that statement.
Because I will remember it
We aren't interested in your bias thread Rokienreasons why thats not good somewhere in this thread possibly
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-my-community!, I thought you would have got that by now.
why do Canadians need their own server, don't the majority speak English as their native language ?So the Canadians have to play on an international server? they arent in US also you would need alot more or you would be forcing people on a server they don't want.
You cannot just designate servers based on region and have the same amount, more JP play than NA, you would need about twice as many JP servers, than NA ones, and more NA play than EU, you would be aiming for twice as many NA servers than EU.
With your idea EU has 3 servers compared to US 1 and JP 1.
Again your idea would have to be changed to at the very least 6 JP servers 4 NA servers and English, German, French servers, all EU servers would be almost dead and NA possibly JP servers would be packed, then come 2.0 with the influx of players we are hoping for only the international servers would be available.
And here's the thing they can add new servers as and when they need to expand.
I am gunna incur the wrath of she that shall not be named, but in WoW EU servers are always busy because they have millions of players, now if SE play its cards right maybe they will get a couple million people also so EU servers would no longer be empty.
Besides SE said that Ragnarok was quite successful as far as population went didn't they ? (a little bit of presumption would lead me to believe that the EU population will only grow in 2.0)
I see no reason why we would need to split the EU into language anyway.

If FFXIV is going to have WoW like mechanics like move out of the fiery circles or you die type of deal then they should have regional servers. The latency is so bad on fights like Ifrit that people actually have to resort to counting his swings to see when hes going to use a special move in order to be able to avoid it. When BG interviewed Yoshi he told them that he wanted the speed of the game to be similar to like WoW, much faster then FFXI.
What they need is actual servers in each region they are, like they could set them up in their US and EU offices as well to offer players servers without the high latency. I know SE probably won't want to spend the kind of money setting up regional servers but they could go the extra mile and actually do it.
It just doesn't work if have fast paced mechanics that need to be avoided but you see your self die because even though on your screen your out of it but not on the servers.

Latancy isn't the only problem here, its also the servers are slow and inefficiant, come 2.0 we will not be on the current servers, and they are supposed to be alot better and efficiant. If FFXIV is going to have WoW like mechanics like move out of the fiery circles or you die type of deal then they should have regional servers. We can only make assumptions as to the problems there are not say indefinately, you could have a 20ms ping to the servers and still have problem with cracks because of the server infrastructure and software problems, wait until 2.0 see if things change then say latancy is 100% the problem.
Zumi the current servers are like that because of the servers being underpowered not because of the distance.
That being said I do agree that if this game is to have truly fast paced mechanics like WoW it would need very low latency which would require local servers.
Some how I don't' see this game every having that fast paced of battles, even Ifrit is as slow as a fart in a thunderstorm in comparison.
I am from the UK and would also prefer local servers, so I can understand where he is coming from.
I don't mind playing with French and German players, infact I do quite often, but I am not up for staying up til 4am to play with people from my Linkshell who are mostly US players and don't see why I should have to put up with 250ms of extra latency either.
