I have no problem with Solution 9 because I have turned off any footage of it since the first screenshot they showed of it. I barely watched the last live letter because it seemed expansion Ruining. I want it to all feel fresh when I play it.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who got XCX vibes from that bit of the trailer! (Here's hoping for a remake on the Switch 2!).

Problem with xiv's msq the last few expansions is that it turns too anime at random spots, as well as the stagnant cast. For an ongoing game using the same cast is getting old and stale.
Seeing alphinaud and the rest "struggle" in those cutscenes and whatever did nothing to me. Anyone else have this reaction? Like, eh, saturday morning cartoon.

It's not necessarily the cast themselves. It's that SE uses them to explain everything, they tell us where to go, when and why. We don't get to learn anything on our own, from the locals or by seeing it for ourselves. When it comes to the Scions, SE uses them to repeatedly make the cardinal sin of writing by constantly telling us instead of showing us. The Leveilleur and Co. guided tour will squeak all the excitement out of what we could have had.

And the scion plot armor being so thick showing them as being in danger is just boring. We know they are all going to come out the other side in a better place then when we started. Unless they add real stakes by offing a couple of them, those things are never to be believed, something they wouldn't have to do if there wouldn't have been so many fake outs with no consequences. But they have gone so far with it that they need to do something drastic, hance offing a couple scions. So why even include the obligatory, "omg the scions are in trouble" scenes anymore. In fact I bet dollars to donuts that they will not only come out better than when they started, but they will bring everyone together with the power of friendship and maybe instead of electing a leader, they will instead form a council to rule Tural or some other malarkey.

I‘ll be honest.
It took a few watches but I kinda like the trailer. It’s not on the level of Shb or EW but they did a good job with no former quests that lead into it much.
It was nice not seeing the scions in every scene and even solution 9 looks interesting here.

That said what I didn‘t like was Wuk Lamat going on and on about being dawnservant and to be quit honest it all felt a bit too distanced from our WoL.

Just my personal opinion about it.

The music was also nice.

I rewatched the Endwalker launch trailer and yeah, they did show some stuff in that one too. Even played the music for the final zone. However, without context it's not really spoilers. I really only see it as a tease of what is to come in the expansion. Like they did show Zodiark, but never showed the context of how we got there and what happened. You hear the main antagonist's voice in the trailer even but you don't know who they are.

Without context of what we see in these trailers, we know absolutely nothing. We won't know until we play it.

To be honest, my opinion of all of this is influenced by the fact that I didn't starting playing until very shortly after Endwalker launched. I was therefore not exposed to pre-release material of any previous expansion and hadn't experienced how it must feel to wait for one whilst being exposed to all the promotional build up to it.
I'll also note that I came to FFXIV from a game which was rubbish at promoting new content - they didn't reveal much at all until at least a week before launch due to paranoia around angry players.

However, the cinematic and pre-release trailer have impressed me and, for me, did the job they should - it left me curious to find out where the story is going to take us.

I will admit, though, that this trailer presented itself better from the 'second half' than the first. I'm more intrigued about the 'technologically advanced civilization coming in guns blazing' aspect than anything else and I'd assume that element of the story will occur quite late into the expansion. Which isn't a problem per-se, but I feel it will leave me anticipating that part of the story and it may sometimes feel a bit difficult to avoid the temptation to 'rush' content in the hopes of getting to that part. And that's something I resolved to NOT do, since I'm keen to digest the story and enjoy it and have little interest in sprinting to the endgame.

Aside from that, I definitely enjoyed the music (particularly from 2:38) which will no doubt feature in the game at some point.

It's almost impressive how unhyped I am. Oh gosh oh golly gee I sure can't wait for the wall boss with the hitbox half the size of the arena!!!!1!!
