Yeah, I got the same sentiments from it also, I'm more excited for The War Within atm but my husband loves this game so much more than WoW so that's why im here but I can't help but feel not excited for this expansion so far.
I wonder if this has something to do with PR, because the reveal of Solution 9 suddenly spiked many people's interests that were otherwise dulled by a 'vacation episode expansion'.
Maybe it could have been toned down immensely while keeping the same effect, but then they wouldn't have a lot to show in the LL/Keynotes.

To be fair, I feel they sorta HAD to provide a 'hook' of some description since it doesn't benefit from being a continuation of a long-running storyline.I wonder if this has something to do with PR, because the reveal of Solution 9 suddenly spiked many people's interests that were otherwise dulled by a 'vacation episode expansion'.

It's absolutely the case. They needed to reassure people that an actual story was to be found beyond the initial "vacation" premise.

Honestly, we don't need that many Live letters and streams for a single expansion. Most other MMOs just announce their upcoming expansion in a single or a maximum of two events. Meanwhile, FFXIV team split the announcement into 5 or 6, with lots of repetitive information. For example: "Level cap up to 100!" like tell me something I don't know. Not the same tidbit of information you said in every single previous event.
It's a personal opinion nonetheless, but this feels more like a desperate attempt at PR & Marketing that you need to do the expansion announcement multiple time, each time with the same information but added with a very little more information.
Second half of the trailer would have been soo much better, if we didnt know about Solution 9.
Still Endwalker suprised us with Elpis and the characters there.
I am hyped and cant wait for launch.
I am standing by my predication that the whole succession plot line is not the main story arc and will get wrapped up mid-way. The Golden City and Solution 9 are going to be a mid-expansion or third act switch, where the true story and villain rear up and set the stage for the 7.X patch series and the main arc that will take us through 8.0-10.0
"The worst foe lies within the self."

In a way, I wish they'd kept that element of the story under wraps, though I do understand why they didn't.
Eitherway, I'm anticipating the invasion (or what appears to be one) from the technologically advanced civilization element of the story moreso than the 'succession'.
I feel like they could've done this more subtly by having a cryptic aside with the mysterious girl (Who I really get the impression is the actual villain of DT) at the end of 6.55 that suggests there's something brewing under the outwardly shallow premise of DT.
They've had similar moments at the end of all the prior expansions and I don't think the story "starting fresh" was any reason to exclude such.

I got that impression too, and glad I wasn't alone! Eitherway, it's clear she's going to a key element to the story.I feel like they could've done this more subtly by having a cryptic aside with the mysterious girl (Who I really get the impression is the actual villain of DT) at the end of 6.55 that suggests there's something brewing under the outwardly shallow premise of DT.
