To be fair, XIV has proven to be polished even though the changes are boring on top of boring so it's a special case. The rest of AAA is definitely not. Yes, you're an idiot if you pre-order nowadays.

The difference for me is whether or not I was going to purchase it anyways. In this case, was I going to play the expansion? Yes.

Therefore, the question then becomes do I pre-order, get some items, get EA, or do I wait until official launch and get the exact same game for the exact same price minus the perks? That answer seems obvious to me.

If everyone cancelled their orders for the combat, they still wouldn't change it. They'd probably sooner close the game down due to a lack of population than actually ask themselves if they could improve the game.

If you don't like the job changes like I do, then refund your Dawntrail pre-orders. Send a message to the team that we are not happy with the changes being made to FFXIV's combat.

If I could not pay for later expansions and keep playing the older versions of these jobs I would but sadly CBU3 does not want to make legacy servers so I will just have to leave this game until it becomes better and I suggest you do the same!

firstly : i dont think not being happy about jobs is a justified reason to request a refund.

Secondly : okay so yoship answered about this and explained why he couldn't fix job homogenization and the combat all together. it would just be way to much of a system shock and i 100% agree. so just enjoy the revamped difficulty level for now, for me that was all i ever wanted. combat is something they will be fixing it in 8.0

thirdly : i think you wont even go through with this because missing an entire expansion over this is an absolutely pointless move and if you hated it that much you'd have left at 6.0 when it was its worst.

based on what? they have improved the difficulty which you can tangibly see from the media tour.... they wanted to tackle it first

Since we all are independent-minded individuals everyone has to decide for themselves whether to pre-order or not.

This is just my opinion and my take on the game and upcoming add on:

I haven’t pre-ordered it and I’m still on the fence whether I will or not.

I was one of the players who instantly pre-ordered in an almost reflexive behaviour every expansion till ShB, lol. But I already was reluctant to do so with EW and I’m kind of adamant to push the decision on DT as much as I can.

My hesitation isn’t even about the job changes. From what I understand it’s just a skill here and there which will be altered or taken away or a new one added. That’s not like a complete job class overhaul like in other games.

It’s more like, when I started playing FF14 I pretty much had rose-tinted glasses on. But during the course of 1830 sub days I noticed lots of stuff I naturally compared to other mmos, realizing how different they handle certain things and even to the better, I dare say. Also I don’t like where the community is evolving to, but that’s another story.

So I became way more critical about FF14 and spending money on it than during my first 3 years. I already stopped completely spending on their online shop.

I still play every now and then with close friends of mine and enjoy our time together ingame. But outside of that the game becomes more and more of a chore to me with tomestone grinding and so on.

For now I enjoy another mmo way more without feeling pressured to participate in any gear grind or anything else. It feels like a breath of fresh air to me even after a 1 year hiatus and I gladly throw my hard-earned money into their upcoming expansion.

It helps to have multiple "main" jobs you can fall back on
should one be "undesirable" due to (future) changes/reworks
( I was AST main in EW; Now im going into DT as SCH main).

the thing about the community is, youre part of it. and if theres something you dont like about it you can be the example. you can be the 1 person whos different. and then if other similar people come into the game looking for people who think the way you do you are always there. i would say in this case seek out similarly minded individuals. but if the thing that makes you "you" is just saying ffxiv is bad, i think that will push people away. not saying YOU do this, but its common here on these forums. and then people are like "HUHH???" when nobody wants to rally to there cause.

Are you really comparing a brand new game to an mmo rpg expansion that you are sub to right now?

Man Elden Ring was a blast but people preordering the dlc are so dumb they better wait 1 month to be sure it's good.
