agreed, this should have been made toggleable or a new mouth option entirely imo. the lip changes are pretty drastic and make a big change in a character's base expression.

I'm pretty sure they said that adding new options is out of the question right now. I assume the spaghetti code is getting in the way, like there's only so much character data that the game can fit. Kind of like how inventory space has a hard limit, and how we got rid of belts to open space.
They didn't do a lot of forward thinking when they rebuilt the game's engine for 2.0's release. Ironically.

If they can't add new options, they shouldn't be eliminating the old ones with the graphics update.I'm pretty sure they said that adding new options is out of the question right now. But also midlander Hyur men got a new face option relatively recently, so i'm sure it's possible, just a pain in the ass.



All i can guess is that the options they have is constrained to the literal bits.
