They really messed up the face 1 lips too.
It's like they gave the wrong mouth to each face

Bringing this over from the other thread I posted in - while I wasn't super happy with how my miqo looked like in the previous Benchmark, it was definitely closer to his current look than whatever the updated Benchmark turned him into.

I mean personally i like the slight smile for the face. Cured my catboy's RBF
Major changes should have been new options though.
agreed, this should have been made toggleable or a new mouth option entirely imo. the lip changes are pretty drastic and make a big change in a character's base expression.
I'm pretty sure they said that adding new options is out of the question right now. I assume the spaghetti code is getting in the way, like there's only so much character data that the game can fit. Kind of like how inventory space has a hard limit, and how we got rid of belts to open space.
They didn't do a lot of forward thinking when they rebuilt the game's engine for 2.0's release. Ironically.

If they can't add new options, they shouldn't be eliminating the old ones with the graphics update.I'm pretty sure they said that adding new options is out of the question right now. But also midlander Hyur men got a new face option relatively recently, so i'm sure it's possible, just a pain in the ass.
All i can guess is that the options they have is constrained to the literal bits. Which should mean that if there is 5 options, then there is at least room for 3 more. 4 options and it's probably capped.I'm pretty sure they said that adding new options is out of the question right now. I completely agree.
It looks like we took a happy pill and are weirdly smiling now.
When I tried the first benchmark, I wasn't sold on some details (e.g. the eyes looking too "dead" and making us look half asleep, my eyebrow shape being different...) but I was mostly happy with the lips we had. Overall, I was fine with how my character would end up looking. But now that I've just tried out the new benchmark, I'm unhappy with how he looks because of this smile.
Here are some pictures of both benchmarks with different backgrounds (Benchmark 1 on the left, Benchmark 2 on the right to show the before/after):
It might not be strongly noticeable for everyone but I personally see the changes especially when I turn my character around to catch another lighting. The worst example for me is the picture in the wooden inn room: it looks like another face type to me.
I chose this facetype because I like the "bone structure", the jawline and the face features in themselves. They gave the character a "resting b face" that I personally enjoy a lot. Problem is that now we're smiling and it doesn't really fit us, at least if we want a serious and neutral look. That smile is fine as an emote, but not as a permanent face. I don't think it's only a lighting issue as the lips look like their corners are pointing upwards now, it's a shape issue.
I'm not gonna complain about the textures because they obviously look very good and way better than what we have atm, there is no concern about that on my personal end. But if we're talking about the character's features themselves then that's when I have a problem. If I had to choose between benchmark 1 and 2 for my character, I'd chose the first one by far. I really hope they fix the lips and revert that smile back, or at least delete this increase of the corners.
