It always boils down to: "I dont like the game as it is!" or "I want the game to do x or i literally cant play it" or "Content Y is too hard i need the add-ons!" which is funny when on one side people scream the game got too easy and on the other side they need tools... or "game is literally unplayable!"

Yes i see Linux users might get in trouble and on the long run that worries me as, frankly said, F#### Microsoft, win10 will be my last one, so i will have to switch to linux at one point...


Of cause not all mods are bad! But once the door is open youll never know who to trust and people WILL abuse it, as all the Ultimates proofed. Like the "harmless" camera zoom hacks... mechanics are meant to be hard to see, to coordinate with others etc, not just to zoom till the moon so you see everything at once.


It just silly this always ends up with "stop cheats!" vs. "but muh hacks!"


All those who dislike the games look and gameplay... why do you insist on changing it? On Dawntrails launch we will have the usual 24/7 afk players mod their way into bypassing the afk kick and not even play. as if we werent full enough... on the first raids people will read out all the stuff again and give some an advantage and we all know the Eden ultimate will boil down on "who doesnt get caught cheating".


We play for fun but for some fun means doing whatever the f they want with whatever means they see fit.

Modders getting uppity and acting like they're the sole reason the game is still alive makes me want an anti-cheat even more.

They aren't the sole reason obviously but you also would have to be living under a rock to not notice how large the venue scene is now. As others have said in this thread and in general, it's comparable to Second Life (which I agree with to an extent). I don't believe it's a completely sex centered game but I do agree that ERP is a large part of the game's community now.

When I take the time to speak to new players these days, more often than not I hear that they joined because of their friends telling them about roleplay or the venue life we have here, not because of the actual story or content of the game. Of course there are some but it's definitely not the majority.

Well I'm stuck in the difficult position that I really don't want anti-cheat in the game because so many anti-cheats tend to be heavy handed and invasive. On the other hand, I really do think the game's 'modding' scene is getting out of hand.

I run the client vanilla, no custom client, no mods, no plugins, and I increasingly feel like I'm at a distinct disadvantage over other players who do use these things. I occasionally PvP, which from all I've heard and the few videos and screenshots I've seen about what client plugins can (and can't) do, they do offer a significant advantage for those using them.

I also like to RP, but with the prevalence of one plugin in particular becoming so common over the past year, I actually have been having significant trouble with engaging others in RP. As in, I will get actively avoided if not outright ignored by RPers who do use that particular plugin with all of their mods. It got so bad I took a break from the game for six months ago, and having just recently come back it seems like the problem has only gotten worse.

At this point I feel like I'm getting increasing pressure into having to use the custom client to use plugins to be able to enjoy much of the game, even though I don't want to for a myriad of reasons, including that it's against the ToS, along with other security related concerns to do with them.

According to several friends, it's non-existent to very small over there in terms of cosmetic mods.

Easy Anti Cheat is afaik still working and is in userland.

Incorrect, EZAC was one of the first to get linux support along with Battleye. If there happens to be a game using EZAC that doesn't work with linux (aka steamdeck) that is 100% because the game dev has abandoned the game, not because EZAC isn't supported in Linux.

I wasn't aware Linux is unable to run software that is abbandoned by it's devs. That is an interesting feature. How that does that work for software that is not worked on in the weekends?

How big compared to the people who play for the game's content (MSQ, Sidequests, dailies, ect.)?

I don't think it's a large part as much as an extremely noticeable part.
