I 100% agree with OP. Screw the haters, AST is in a horrible state atm. Or did everyone just magically forget all the complaints it had at EW launch?

According to this logic, Complaints = "yeah lets rework it into sparkly white mage"
People should be able to expressed their "dislike" to the rework constructive criticism is good
No people who played astro for the most part didn't like Astrodyne or minor arcana, I don't really recall astro mains asking for RNG to be fully removed and it's higher burst APM to be slown down.
If some people don't like RNG, then they could have played... i don't know one of the other 3 healers that were designed without that in mind.

why couldnt they just add three more cards or five more?
dmg buff
mit buff
heal over time
slow or stun card
direct heal card
dot on enemy card
incombat runspd card
mit debuff
you would get a draw of three random cards each time

Yeah idk the point where 'hey why does AST have a personal DPS buff' and 'minor arcana felt unsatisfying' and 'hey this burst is way too busy and forces our mobility tool to be used just to function' became 'yeah yknow what fuck it just make the class into white mage with a worse designed aetherflow' and suddenly we're all expected to be excited. Stormblood ASTs wanted more interesting cards not 'a glorified extra charge of ED/CI but we called it cards'. ShB/EW ASTs wanted cards to matter less about stacking up some random personal buff and more focused on the actual varied and reactive party buffer gameplay, not... whatever this is.According to this logic, Complaints = "yeah lets rework it into sparkly white mage"

I gave AST a shot, and it's still miserable to play, even to think about. Worst iteration by far. Praying for 8.0, I guess...

I could have honestly lived with the rework if it kept the "active buff" feeling to it, but one damage buff card per minute is so... underwhelming theirs not even going to be any variance on who it goes on (i think).Yeah idk the point where 'hey why does AST have a personal DPS buff' and 'minor arcana felt unsatisfying' and 'hey this burst is way too busy and forces our mobility tool to be used just to function' became 'yeah yknow what fuck it just make the class into white mage with a worse designed aetherflow' and suddenly we're all expected to be excited. Like wow cool cards that don't damage buff? oh they're just healing... and mitigation cards... wait don't we have enough healing and mitigation...? lol how is this interesting or unique??? I actually rather we just got two/three set damage buff cards then this or something.
I guess worse Aetherflow is now what astro is going to be about... wonder if they will bother to change up existing healing/mits or just keep them as it is, I mean in one hand if they keep it as it is then why would we need anymore healing like i said... or on the other hand why remove something to put it on a card lol.
I mean aside from that are they actually ever going to address healer complaints? If healing was more fun maybe I'd be less annoyed about these changes, but we pretty much know we're in store for the same boring gameplay we've been getting for years now.
The new AST looks great.
Now I get to play a hand of cards instead fiddling with only one at a time.
And all the cards in my hand will have different functions!
And I'll also be playing more cards per minute.
More cards, more functions, more than one per hand, and no more dealing with the scam that was astrodyne.
Sounds good to me.

Are you really playing more cards when there is no difference between a healing “card” and a normal healing CDThe new AST looks great.

It's like people can't tell that they're generic CD's yet because they are labelled as cards.
Maybe the rework can actually fool some people I guess, maybe given time people might actually catch on to the card system now just being a weird clunky Aetherflow esc system who knows.

It's an effective strat imho: market them as 'new card system'. But in the practice they boil down to 'lol more mit/heals that I'm/my party already drowning in'.
I mean, I could be wrong when the actual tooltip comes out (I really hope so). But considering their track record with the role, that's very unlikely to happen lol.

You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."
