PreachThis argument has always been either ignorant or in bad faith. Complaints about SCH's design have never been about how strong it is; it's always been incredible, and numbers are easy to tweak if needed anyway. The problem is no one on the design team seems to actually play the job, so every time they touch it they make it feel worse to play.
They could give us Broil V with 700 potency and Succor II granting a 2000 potency shield, and that's not gonna magically make me forget all the issues I have with Scholar (anti-synergy with dissipation, downtime dps on healers as a whole being miserably boring (something that isn't magically fixed by just making us heal more, I might add), aesthetic:lore disconnect, etc. etc.)
Plus the rampant angelfication since ShB, as compared to the Military Tactican with a side of biochemist that we had until SB.....the biochemist is sadly taken away by Sage for good at this point.Preach

What's the Irish themed fae? Titania's either heavily English/Shakespeare or Scottish depending on whether you go with midsummer night's dream or the accent, I don't think beq lugg is anything but a parallel to draw with matoya, dullahan is of irish folklore but we don't really know any. Gaelic is mostly used in the mhachi voidsent names and 4th make auricites, but I don't think they count as fae.
Midsummer Night's Dream is based in Athens, Greece. Titania, along with her accent, the pixies, and Il Mheg have a heavy Scottish influence. In any case, SCH's transformation isn't anywhere close to English, Irish, or Scottish folklore and lines up more with the Christian faith's depiction of angelic entities. I can't speak for the devs, but my guess is that they weren't aiming for a job specific theme with this transformation, but is rather an apotheosis of the healer role. I'm not defending this move. I'm only guessing their reasoning behind it. Personally, I would have preferred something much closer to Titania. What's the Irish themed fae? The annoying thing is, WHM already has quite a few Christian (especially Catholic) influences in its ability names, so it's the job that would far better fit this aesthetic. Scholar becoming a temporary nun just doesn't make a lick of sense and it's turning me off the job completely.
Dammit Square I just wanted Miasma and Bane back, you already make us look like nuns with the gear, don't force it on us further with the moveset.
I quite like it.
I'm fine with the idea of Scholars being academics and even a bit militaristic in style with the Nymian Marines, but I always did find the idea of Faeries being quite the juxtaposition. I have long gotten used to it over the last decade, but I really like the idea that for a moment the more Fae inspired concepts take over your physical form temporarily.
Gotta imagine it's a buff that probably only lasts like maybe 30 seconds at most on probably a +2 minute cooldown. You are still going to be your staunch, academic/militaristic persona, but every so often you embrace the more (super)naturalistic side of your skills with the help of Lily.
If only this was actually fairy inspired.I quite like it.

I feel a lot less people would be this upset over it if the form change was into Something more titania or Feo Ul looking.
Rather than WoW holy priest.
Yeah, I can sorta agree with that.
But also to be fair, we only briefly saw an image of it and only from the back and there is distinct possibility the design will still be changed form now until early access. I'd be fine if it stayed the way it is, but it certainly could be a bit better, I agree.
