I guess they spent half of the 10$ SCH budget buying positive reviews
The new seraphism model looks like cheap angel cosplays you buy on ebay. Doesn't fit the theme at all, stiff wings, color scheme doesn't even match. What were they thinking..
Those people do not care about the lore, game roleplay or gameplay. They only care about the social roleplay, glamour and modding side of the game most of them are uber casual.
You only find people who care about the first 3 on the forums most of the time, this is extremely normal. Allow the erper miqote who spends half the time in limsa idling to love the stupid new transformation cus it looks like le hecking comfy cute fairy magical girl.
To be clear, I am criticizing the change of the player model specifically, not the skill VFX associated with Seraphism. Fairy stuff is fine, of course.
It is the model swap that has disappointed me and other players who like how our Scholars look. This is chiefly because of the fact that a full transformation, specifically one with an angelic visual, is being stapled on when the fairy and military tactician visuals and motifs are already there to use. Those of us who have requested a winged visual akin to Temperance had something like a modest set of pixie wings in mind, not this.
Additionally, Scholar has always been the most reserved and least dramatic of the healer jobs, and adding a fullbody transformation at all is quite an ostentatious departure from something many of us really liked about it in the first place.
I see myself as fairly casual, into looking good and ideally, roleplay (but not the night club stuff). And there is enough magical girl stuff already, you don't need a transformation that removes everything that would define the 'erper miqote' look, versus an average 'erper midlander'. It feels as if someone in the Class design department has been heavily daydrinking on the job, and that goes back as far as ShB, when 'Seraph' got added. Those people do not care about the lore, game roleplay or gameplay. Not only does the visual clash with SCH's roots, but the worst of it is that now you'll be FORCED to wear fkin ROBES...
The main ffxiv subreddit is garbage for having a real discussion, it's pretty much just a gallery and toxic casualism... There's a reason ffxivdiscussion exists and is relatively popular.
This argument has always been either ignorant or in bad faith. Complaints about SCH's design have never been about how strong it is; it's always been incredible, and numbers are easy to tweak if needed anyway. The problem is no one on the design team seems to actually play the job, so every time they touch it they make it feel worse to play.

Scholar had 4 DPS moves, going to get 1 more (hardgated behind 2 minutes cooldown), Sage has 6, one of them is hardgated with a 2 min cooldown - and they get an At-Will AoE with DT on top, for a whopping 7 dps skills.
