The sheer amount of people that still browse the forums and reddit and everything but their only feedback is: "I hope the game changes EVERYTHING in a radical shift of direction and difficulty or else I think I'll stop playing."

Like, you been here for 10 years! The game has been doing what the game does for 10 years, does anyone seriously think it's going to actually fundamentally change something when it's working? It's like buying a new Mario game and complaining that Mario is still a platformer and they better give Mario a sniper rifle in the next game because jumping is boring now. Newsflash Mario is going to jump, FFXIV boss battles are going to take place in a circle or square arena, WoW raids are going to be hallways, Pokemon battles are turn based, Call of Duty is about shooting, like... what are these people expecting?

I don't think they want to deliver this with ingame mail: it would result in many people logging in, getting the fantasia from the mail, then logging back out to adjust their character and then log back in once again, and I don't think it would be a good idea to encourage everyone to log in not just once but twice on release day. (the login servers are probably going to get hammered as it is)
Perhaps they could do something like massively flag all characters as if they had used a fantasia so people could adjust them prior to logging in, but then there's the problem that the system requires all gear to be unequipped. (plus it might lack visibility for people not knowing about it)

I guess this is why he didn't seem to be sure about how they're going to go about it.

I don't think it's that far fetched a theory. Maybe they want you to try out your character for a bit, rather than rush to use a fantasia.

I don't think it's likely, just that it's got a bit of logic to it.

The "FREE" fantasia will be delivered once you buy the expansion on each account.

If you think all your alts are going to get a nice and fresh FREE Fantasia then you haven't play FFXIV that much.

They would have announced if it required buying the expansion, like when Heavensward's collector's edition came with a fantasia.

They also gave one out to 1.0 players for free.

As usual it'll be in-game mail & you have no guarantee it'll arrive timely it'll either log in EA day or several plus hours later like when new mog item it out. So if really want get ahead of curve you'll still need buy a Fanta to log naked & load benchmark character save, we're not getting it before DT Early Access launch as make no sense get it before graphics update is in the game.

They are selling an emote for 13 USD.

There is a free fantasia for finishing ARR MSQ, and people who have been here before they reworked veteran rewards already get another free fantasia on every single character they make.
