So .. this has nothing to do with Aether ping.No. I want people who are on Primal to stay on Primal so that there are actually parties forming on Primal.
We tried sticking around, for the first few months, with our half static. Then it became harder and harder to fill out a party in a timely manner on Primal.... because anyone willing to join a PF for raiding went to Aether for that.
It got to the point of, "If you can't beat em, join em."
I think if SE forced any given party to have the party leader be a member of the local data center it might solve the issue. People could still move to a data center to be with a static that way, but PF groups would need to have at least one member local to function.
Edit: lolol definitely not a Titanman alt, I'm usually one of the positive rays of sunshine in comparison around here
Guess the first resonse was right, nothing to do with ping LMAOOOO
Lorelai, Yoshi P has been apparently heard on interviews or LL that he's fine with Mana being the designated raiding DC. So having Aether as the NA one, looks to be their goal.I see my prediction for Aether in Dawntrail is already starting to occur. I wish yall luck with log in times at launch. O7
This isn't gonna change without Square's intervention at this point or shutting off cross-DC. It's just too ingrained in the community now because, for some reason, people think labeling data centers is cool.

Then I guess this thread is ultimately pointless? Ultimately it doesn't bother me, I won't be sitting in an hour long queue regardless. So .. this has nothing to do with Aether ping.

I just hope they crank that home datacenter priority setting to max which apparently does exist to some degree, datacenter natives should completely bypass travelers in the queue.I see my prediction for Aether in Dawntrail is already starting to occur. Aether is crowded with or without travelers, the WoW exodus caused that to happen since all of the big streamers made a home there and people wanted to be close to them. Making it into the official raid DC just made an already existing problem a lot worse.

This thread seems like a bunch of baloney. Is this a topic disguised as some DC travel complaint thread?
They can't just turn off cross-DC travel now. It would destroy the raiding community. Like, imagine how many static groups wold be destroyed if they said DC travel was being removed? Group are already full speed into recruitment for DT. And it's nice to be able to form a static group with everyone.
The only solution they have is cross-DC partyfinder. And I really hope it's something they've been working on and will be around for DT.

What they need to do for dawntrail is disable travel to aether. Can sell go elsewhere. At least for the first month.
I haven't experienced any issues like this over the past few weeks, so it may be isolated to the route you're using to connect to the game servers.
I would advise trying a VPN if you have access to one, and seeing if it improves. Exitlag offers a 3 day free trial, so I usually end up recommending it to people troubleshooting issues like this.

I'm a Spectrum customer so I'm well aware of the pain and suffering that the NTT nodes like inflict upon us, specifically the San Jose ones.I haven't experienced any issues like this over the past few weeks, so it may be isolated to the route you're using to connect to the game servers.

The server input lag caused by high pings is different than what I was experienced a couple of weeks ago. God, the snapshots were so bad in P10S that three different pairs died even though they looked like they were clean on everyone's screens. The windows in that fight are so tight that even a fraction of a second is enough to murder you. You can't even use "where is the dead body" as your forensics for who screwed up because people die in the right spot. Server don't care, server thought you were two pixels too far away, too bad, you failed the mechanic, GOOD DAY SIR.
I've seen SE noticing instance problems on other servers and other data centers since then - I'm crossing my fingers that the server maintenance they do in prep for DT (some of which starts tonight on the EU data center) alleviates some of the issues.
I've actually started keeping an eye out for any PFs on my home data center and joined them as a tank to encourage the practice. Maybe it was pure placebo effect, but I didn't experience any of the jitters in those runs that I had been experiencing on Aether.
I never said I wanted DC party travel to stop. I know that cat is out of the bag and people are finally able to be in statics with their friends. I would simply like SE to find means of encouraging people to spread out their statics, and not dogpile on a single beleaguered data center, if they can avoid it.
And for PF to not ALL be on a single data center. The instance cap is going to hit the limit for sure that first week in DT.
