Can we please stop destroying Aether DC with party finder? The lag is bad

I understand the reasoning as to why everyone decided to congregate onto a single data center for the purposes of party matching.... but we're choking the life out of Aether's instances.

I kept getting weird lag spikes - I wiped my party at least twice today because it was getting worse and worse and worse. At one point my character straight up stopped moving. At another point everyone swears I wasn't in the stack on their screens, even though it showed up fine on mine (I took a screenshot of my WAR centered on their corpses.)

It's frustrating to execute a near flawless Savage performance, mechanics-wise, and get killed because of lag. (Not a skill issue. I didn't miss a single tank tower all week, because those have enough time for the server to acknowledge the character position.)

I hope that with 7.0 SE does something to force PF to spread back out again. I'm tired of having to data center hop only to end right back up with 7 other people from my original data center, only playing on Aether because we were all convinced we HAD to do it at some point.

Was the first thing I checked, up/down are 312/12 mbps, ping to Aether DC is currently 77 ms. (I've experienced the hell of Spectrum nodes putting me at 200 ms.)

This was different. This was much more like the server instability I experienced trying to run during Raubhan Ex instance crashes, or that time I crashed all of Primal's instances using Limit Break in Anamnesis Anynder. (Ever since then my friends joke my bard limit break was so powerful I crashed the world..... in reality, it was the instance server going down. Total coincidence, but still funny.)

Different duties aren't all going to be on the same physical machine. In rare cases I have suspected lag happening in one duty affect another and due to the large-scale duties but we've had numerous hardware upgrades since then as well.

I once couldn't queue for Amdapor Keep. You know why? Because bots had reached the limit on the number of Amdapor Keep instances. Since you were able to queue for it, it likely wasn't that congested.

Aether is also not nearly as congested as it gets during an expansion launch, where we had 5,000 person queues slowly going down over several hours. Yet people are actually able to play without lag then.

That can happen when there is a server hiccup but if you have wifi it can also happen from that. I think there was a DDoS yesterday because people were saying they got disconnected from all NA worlds, so it could have been that.

Is fun to meet people who struggle with the the tank towers in P10S. They can be done consistently for years if you draw a line in MS paint to figure out what angle will launch you to the wrong position. Being at least slightly in front of the square quadrants line and about within the red ring is perfect. It typically aligns with the boss hitbox line as well, and with many marker setups you're in the corner of the nearest marker. Since I did the MS paint thing I haven't got it wrong since.

I don't get it, you are not from Aether but want people to leave Aether so you can play on Aether? Is this yet another forum alt? You are free to play on primal.

No. I want people who are on Primal to stay on Primal so that there are actually parties forming on Primal.

We tried sticking around, for the first few months, with our half static. Then it became harder and harder to fill out a party in a timely manner on Primal.... because anyone willing to join a PF for raiding went to Aether for that.

It got to the point of, "If you can't beat em, join em."

I think if SE forced any given party to have the party leader be a member of the local data center it might solve the issue. People could still move to a data center to be with a static that way, but PF groups would need to have at least one member local to function.

Edit: lolol definitely not a Titanman alt, I'm usually one of the positive rays of sunshine in comparison around here

This isn't gonna change without Square's intervention at this point or shutting off cross-DC. It's just too ingrained in the community now because, for some reason, people think labeling data centers is cool.

Lorelai, Yoshi P has been apparently heard on interviews or LL that he's fine with Mana being the designated raiding DC. So having Aether as the NA one, looks to be their goal.

We have the same issue on Chaos, Chaos players goes to Light for PF, Chaos PF is 90% (e...)RP venues

Most still stay remain on chaos. There are only a few cases where going to light helps. Chaos might be a bit more emtpy, but its not inactive. For all the EW extremes i had no struggles finding PFs, or getting one to fill in a reasonable time (15mins). Even the unreal is well doable on chaos. And close to the release of savages, even they are easily filled.

Sure, 90% might be RP (i blatantly ignore those as i always filter category anyway). But i wouldnt be surprised if light also has that, but its just burried behind the list of non RP PFs.

Light just has more people, which means more PFs.
