I never understood how ff14 and wow spend such an exhorborent amount of resources on unique pvp items for something not even 1% of players participate in (feast/arena)

Same reason, if they let other people get it the PVPers would feel less special, can't have that.

Yeah but the weird part is they never give reskins, usually unique models for stuff.
seems like a mismanagement of resources, mmo pvp is super giga niche so it's weird they put unique models and stuff in content not even 1% of players do

My hypothesis regarding including the Hellhound in the Benchmark is primarily as a form of PvP promotion. It intrigues players, particularly those returning to the game, prompting them to inquire about its acquisition. Once informed that it originates from PvP, the intention is to pique their interest and encourage them to explore this aspect of the game. Although the armor itself may be unattainable, the Hellhound effectively acts as a visual emblem, symbolizing PvP's representation within the game.

But... it doesn't? I mean anyone that sees the Hellhound in the Dawntrail benchmark is WAY behind that, it's a little sad that something 'symbolizing PVP's representation' was only available 6 years ago.

What? Yoshida has said a few times he plans to let players get the old Feast armor, most likely in 7.X.

I'm not opposed to it, but where/when did he say that? When he was asked during interviews he was fairly opposed to the idea.

What was said for sure is that Battlepass stuff would eventually return though - which are long overdue at this point...
