I never really had a problem with WoW's PvP mounts being restricted because they were just dolled-up, fancier versions of existing mounts.

I suppose there might still be hope of getting similar, but not exactly the same mounts in the future of XIV, though (IE, instead of a magitek roader we could get its Allagan predecessor that served as a boss in The Burn, or more optimistically its orange color variant could be made available through some means). They did already introduce free "welfare" variants for certain mounts that were originally behind paywalls or were promotional items like the True Griffon and Parade Chocobo, though that's a different case of exclusivity compared to the PvP stuff which is entirely unobtainable now.

I'm just not terribly keen on the idea of completely unique models being left to rot in obscurity once all of its owners either quit or get bored of using them.

I think that's a bad idea (but hear me out before you flame me).

I completely agree that those players worked hard for it, so I wouldn't want them to be available easily like how they messed up and made those 1.0 earrings so easy to get. I don't think old feast rewards should be rewarded in pve content or via wolf marks like how some people in the past have suggested (though the idea of making it cost a LOT of wolf collars isn't as bad, but I still don't think that idea is quite right)

But that being said, it's unfair that newer players will never even have a chance at these. We accept it for 1.x players having limited time mounts and things because they played technically a different game at a time when the game had really bad reception and on the verge of dying, but FF14 has done well from 2.0 and beyond. It especially doesn't make sense when PVE mounts aren't given that same reverence - you can just unsync and farm something and save time years later. The one mount fight that was going to remain synced (rath ex), they've confirmed bringing unsync in the future.

I'd like the old feast rewards to come back for equal work. Basically let people choose old past rewards of the same type. Let's say in the next season you rank Solo - Gold, you can choose a reward that was once available from Solo - Gold. Same type (no mixing Solo and Party rewards) and same ranking needed, but just let people choose what reward they get.
