I completely agree- and the fact that there are low level hats that have ear holes in them and some low level shirts have the back lifted for tailsI could understand if we didn't have any tailed races until later, like the Aura and Hrothgar.
But seeing how Miqo'te has been in the game from the very beginning it surprises me how little effort they've put into making armor/outfits to fit tails as well without clipping.
Some clipping can't be avoided. But major ones like capes and other stuff.
It's just laziness

It does feel lazy. I can't really say it any nicer than that.
I've played ESO for many years before and they have 2 races with tails.
There are no capes in ESO, but some armor pieces have armor flaps, or how to say it.
Normally the flaps can be front, sides, back.
But on the races with tails the back flap is gone to make room for the tail.
Some armors look better with the flap but considering that it's done to reduce clipping I respect the effort they put into doing so.
So it would be nice if FFXIV could have something similar.
Where if a piece have, lets say a cape, make it a shorter cape or just remove it.
Or maybe make it into a split cape so the tail fits inbetween.

In ARR they homogenized their gear design process for all races and just let tails clip. Some robes in 1.0 had a cutout for the tail and some armor sets gave you tail armor.I could understand if we didn't have any tailed races until later, like the Aura and Hrothgar.

I would rather them toggle the cape off than the tail off.

The whole tail issue has been a issue since ye olde gaming.
Why the issue itself has not been solved by any Gaming Company is beyond me at this point.
