Well, it would be, just like my spouse and my characters making out in the back seat of the regalia would be fun.
And perhaps that's why when you are riding pillion, the game doesn't let you do anything: can't use a cordial, or an aethercompass, and so on.
I don't see how it is cheap or lazy. It is very much an intended design choice to have the player transform or ride inside it. As long as the mount design is interesting, I personally don't care if the player rides on it, inside it or transforms into it.Am I the only one or are other people disappointed too when we either seemingly transform into another creature/object or hide inside it?
The first one was the Lunar Whale. I'm not one to spend much money on cash shop cosmetics but I was very hyped about an 8-player mount. When I saw the previews of it though, not showing any riders, that made me completely lose interest in buying it. I gave them a pass because I thought maybe it was technical limitation to sync up 8 character models riding together or something.
But they've kept adding more. The Rising Phoenix, the 4 Million MGP zeppelin thing, the Fall Guys rhino (I mean they could at least show our head sticking out it's backside a la Ace Ventura??). It just feels at this point like they were too cheap/lazy to pose our character models on them.
And now I'm watching the video for the Dawntrail Collector's Edition "Ark" mount and I can't see a character riding it anywhere so it appears to be another one. I mean the mount is just a re-skin of Cruise Chaser, reconfiguration and all, and they managed to put character models on that just fine. What gives? Similar as with the Lunar Whale, it makes me not want to spend extra money for it because I don't want to encourage them to keep this up. This might be the first Collector's Edition I pass on.
At PAX East Yoshi P said in Dawntrail we'd be getting about "1.5x more rewards" from content including more mounts. I sure hope they're not finding the resources to do this because they're planning to skip out on posing and animating character models on a bunch of them.
I don't mind mounts that don't show the player, but when it's a multi-person mount, I want to see all of us in some way. I was really disappointed by the Lunar Whale; I think it would have been so much better if it even just showed the faces of everyone riding in it looking out the port holes or something.
What's wrong with that one, it's cute lol
Anyway, I really love the Rising Phoenix one because you become the mount. The one of the type you're suggesting that I'm a bit iffy about is the FF6 airship one, though I do like the look of most of it.
I love the Omega mount and how you hop inside when flying.
I guess I don't understand the design choice on several of them. Are we supposed to be crammed inside the Fall Guys rhino? What happens to us with the Rising Phoenix? Some people seem to be under the impression that we transform into it but the description says we summon a familiar that assumes the likeness of the phoenix.
On the flipside, I love those mounts that look like my character 'transformed' into it, like the Phoenix... Plus, they are what, 5% of them? I think I can count on my hand the number of mounts that behave like that.
Is similar to people that hate the 'joke weapons' when they are, in fact, just a couple in the face of so many serious ones.
Nothing wrong with the Paissa itself - I just hate the whole 'hanging off the chest' element of it. It looks ridiculous to me.
